I have something that I would like to put out there. I sent in a SA under warranty through my AD for the following problem. The Chrono module sweep was skipping through the seconds. Sometimes it ticked 4 times a sec sometimes it skip through the second. I personally do not believe this is accectable for a watch advertized as a 1/4 sec chrono. I went to pick it up today from my AD and on the repair ticket they had a long list of gaskets and seals that were replaced and claimed that a basic service had been done but the Chrono mod ran the same. So I asked them to send it back and see if they could actually do something to the watch. I expressed this very kindly but I have to tell you I am disapointed. There was no doubt that the unit still skipped. And yes they put the little sticky on the case back declairing that some sort of quality control had happened. I had the exact problem with my Evo, we sent it in and it came back running smoothly. Has anyone else had this experience? Is the SA movement a haybailer? I love my Breitling watches, but the service side is not to impresive. I also sent my Chronomatic 49 in for a loose bezel, It came back, but it still has a little play when I turn it left to right before it engages the inner dial. Are my expectations to high here?

I sent my Navitimer in and was pleasantly surprised with the quick turn-around and beautiful condition of the watch when it returned.

I do have to say though, that if the same experience happened to me that has happened to you, I surely would be very unhappy. Hope it turns out well for you.

The "stuttering" is completely normal for the cal.13(7750) some will exhibit it more than others. There is nothing wrong with the movement nor does it affect its accuracy.

Is this true? If so I will get my SA back before they send it in again.

It's sort of true.

All chronos have a tendency to stutter a little bit when they start up (think of a manual car where you engage the clutch suddenly), and the 7750 is a rugged rather than a refined movement and this is something common. That said, Breitling spend a lot of time refining the movement, and while I wouldn't (personally) be too concerned if there was an occasional stutter, a skip of a second or so on a regular basis is not acceptable.

This one does it as it runs. I let it run for a few days thinking that the oil build up or the fact that it was new may cause this. I put it on a winder and let it run for 1 week and it still skipped or stuttered multiple times in a 1 min cycle. So I think I will let it go back to the shop and see if they can improve the sweep operation. Thanks for the feed back. I was about to just live with it, something I hate expecially when I spend hard earned money.

That's not what the OP stated, he stated, that sometimes there are 4 skips within a second, e. i. instead of 8, there are 4. This is - considering the rugged built of the 7750 - acceptable for me. Actually it's quite normal, isn't it?

You are correct, it does tick 4 times a second for some of the seconds, some it ticks once and covers the sec in one beat. Very spuratic. It does keep pace with the sub dial seconds, but it does not consistantly tick 4 beats per sec. Being a linear person that loves things that tick consistantly it drives me a little batty. I hope they can fix it.

I know what you mean by the chrono sweep. Instead of a regular 4Hz increment, it sporadically hesitates then jumps to catch up. I noticed this after my watch came back from a Breitling full overhaul. They had it back and put it right. No, the condition you describe, although the 7750 and its 77xx ancestors may exhibit it, is not acceptable at all. It is as far as I could glean from some internet research, is caused by a misajusted component involving delicate spring tension, and it is a particularly delicate adjustment to get right.
