thanks Carl, I too am thinking its got to look awesome in the flesh.

so, you have the 'new' SS Seawolf or the Ti version?

the new black dial SA does have the vertical lines on the sub dials right?

hard to see in Spartans pics.

Hey Steve, I can't believe I missed this thread until now.

First off, since you all don't know Steve the way I do, let me confirm that yes indeed he is Mental. But no more than the rest of us. He labors over his watch buying decisions more than buying a car. He is neurotic about the details, and will drive himeself crazy. How do I know this? Because I'm the same way and we have developed a good friendship based on mutual "watch therapy".

Anyways, my opinion on your current dilemma is much like the others here... I think the SA is the watch for you. You already know that I prefer the arabics with contrasting subdials, but other than that, the black dial on OR will be amazing. You are not a small guy, so your stature will carry the size of the SA just fine. One thing to ponder is maybe buying it on bracelet and then purchasing the OR strap seperately? That might be a less costly way to get both and gives you some variety and the ability to dress the SA up when the need arises? The good news is that it is a pretty easy watch to flip if you really can't deal with the size... but I do think this watch will be a long term keeper for you.

I also like Legmaker's suggestion about the Herc. You would love the Herc, great size and wrist presence, hugs the wrist nicely without being tall, but I know that the lack of date is a deal breaker for you. Get over it and buy a calendar and a Herc

So you tried on a Bentley... that might cost you down the road... because when I tried one on in Venice, I could never get it out of my mind... ever...it became my grail. I suppose you tried the GT when you say it was a smaller Bentley? $4500 is not bad for a new Bentley.

I told you this was a great bunch of guys here and very helpful, so now go buy that SA and post some pics!!

Looks good on your wrist. I think you should get it with the bracelet and buy an ocean racer for it as well. You can enjoy the bling until you tire of it and then swap it to the OR. I had an OR for my skyland, but I sold it since I love the bracelet so much and already had a diver pro...but as far as rubber straps go: they dont come any better than the OR, regardless of brand.

BTW, I vote for black on black.

BTW2, what color was the Bentley you tried on. Ive been looking for a "too good to pass up" deal on a white Bentley GT.

Here are some more pictures of the Skyland and Super Avenger. I prefer my Skyland over the Super Avenger. I like the SA, but sometimes feel like the thickness is too much for my taste. I wish I would have looked a little closer at the Montbrilliant Legende or one of the Bentley models. Good luck with your choice!

Here are some pics of the Seawolf. Yes, I have the new SS version:

And a link to my first post, with the Ocean Racer:
viewtopic.php?f=1&t=7153

There are getting to be quite a few more now. Metal86 has posted a lot of his in the Gallery section, with a grey dial - looks awesome - you can do a search, and come up probably with a lot more.
I really thought the Seawolf looked great with my Ocean Racer strap on it. Then I had the brown leather put on it, and like it just as well, just a different look. Either one is very comfortable. I'm wearing the Seawolf all the time now, at work too, and although it is the heaviest watch made by Breitling ( although not the largest ), it is very comfortable. It also reminds me a lot of my first Colt and my SuperOcean, I think that's because it has the numbers, albeit stencil style.
Enjoy the search!
Cheers,
Carl

Looks great

I'm considering an SA at the moment, for pretty much the same reasons you are (my wrist is 6.5 and fairly flat). Regarding the lume, however, I think you'll find it won't get anywhere near matching the PO.

ok guys, here are some responses...

RJ, the GT that I tried on was on the Speed bracelet and was a black dial
with silver outer ring around the bezel and silver subs.
VERY sharp looking but outta my price range at $4500.
retail was like $8k

Nik, thanks for the comparison shot... sweet SA and AS.

Carl, love the Seawolf.
I think if I can get a few bucks together and sell my Oris, I might get the blue
dial Seawolf in SS (don't have anything other than black).
then I'd be done. (or at least outta money)

lastly, I did order my new SA... black dial, baton markers on black OR.
should have it on Thursday.
will post pics as soon as I can.

thanks everyone for all the help.
you B nuts are the best.
