Look who arrived home with me today.

I decided to try Breitling's new Quartz offering. I've been in the Automatic Camp for a little while and against better advice decided to go this route. I still have my mechanical watches. This is my first Quartz Breitling.

So far, only the first day but this watch is unbelievable. Wears very very comfortable and light. Lots and lots of functions. It also feels alive on your arm but a different type of Alive. Beeps every hour. Vibrates on alarms and timers. Lights up every time you look at it 30 degrees tilt function and many more.

I know some guys had huge disappointments but I am willing to risk it. Can't be worse than my Automatic Chronospace.

Let's hope. Loving it so far.

Good luck, its a beauty but obviously has not been too reliable for many thus far.

Congrats. I did the same thing in October myself. Tipped my toe over to the dark side I mean; with my first Ling Quartz.

Here's hoping for a successful venture.

Congratulations! It looks great. The B50 is a remarkable watch and like you, I found it very comfortable and light.

I'm very close to buying one myself, but still a little unsure of the rechargeable battery. Please let us know how things go over the next few months.

I tried one of these on myself the other day, and I have to say, for a quartz watch, I absolutely loved it. Great presence and the look of the E2 without the clown-like proportions.

It's a beauty (although I STILL which they hadn't chopped off the 10!), but the current possible reliability issues are a bigger concern for me than the £5250 price tag. I really hope yours is a good one.

Hey P51. Congrats on your new Time Peace also. I've only had it for a day and so far I am very impressed. Everything still running OK on yours ?

Yes it is, but my apologies for giving you the impression it might have been a B50. My one is an old wreck of a Jupiter pilot. I really like the watch and its style as well as the B50. You learn a lot when playing with Quartz and even though it's old, it has some interesting features.

Enjoy yours. My sentiments on the B50 are split. I agree with Driver on this, but I wished it had been a wobble free introduction. Such a great looking but if kit. Enjoy.

Congratulations it's a great looking watch, and I hope you have more luck than I did.

Keep an eye on it for a few days / weeks - a couple of mine took a week or so to start malfunctioning, the other two went wrong pretty much straight out of the box.

With regard to battery life I never had one long enough to need to charge it but it was looking like I'd get 35-40 days with my usage levels. From memory it is rated for 300 charging cycles, and I beleive Breilting state the battery should be replaced after 10 years.

Thanks Al. I read your horror story. I've gone through a similar experience (not as bad as you) with my Chronospace.

I agree with you. The watch ticks all the boxes for me. The design, fit and finish is exactly what I like in a watch. I've never been a big fan for Gold or Gloss finishes. I think that's why the Matt Titanium fits so well with my taste.

With regards to the functions it's a nice to have but not a huge attraction to me. I need some basic functions like time, date, stopwatch, alarm and timer. It must also be easy to ready and above all look good.

I'm playing with some of the functions and will keep doing so for the next couple of weeks to make sure they stay true.

I'm really holding thumbs that the watch holds up. It's a great looking watch and would hate to NOT HAVE IT.

I'll keep you posted. Hopefully I never write a horror story like yours.

Have you got another replacement on the way or did you eventually take a refund ?

Just to echo the sentiments of everyone else really.
It looks great on your wrist and I wish you all the best with it. :)

I'm still on the fence whether to chop in my EVO for it. Big price difference and the reliability question.

Ps. I love the vista you have!

Thanks 1952. I am loving it so far. Really hoping it holds up.

I live on the coast of South Africa, overlooking False Bay (the biggest concentration of Great White Sharks in the world). We surf and Paddle amongst the Wales and Sharks in the bay. Awesome place.
