Here are the latest released official videos:

http://www.bmwblog.com/2011/07/27/offic ... 12-bmw-m5/

The exhaust music is really teasing (videos 5 and 6) as is its interior (video # 8).

Some interesting new features include the first HUD in color (video # 3) or a new improved launch control which allows to reach 100 km/h in under 4 secs. Also interesting the possibility of choosing between a variety of settings for the chassis or the drive train (video 7).

Personally, I will regret the naturally aspired V8s, even if this Twin-powered turbocharged V8 is a gem in its own right with lag-free 560HP and huge torque (680nm/502 lb-ft).

Forget the car! :nana:

the jobs those guys have must be super awesome! Use and abuse! to your heart's content! :strummin:

Seriously, the car does look a bit ordinary... but I'm sure the specs won't disappoint...

my friend has the previous generation...

wow... what...a...car...

Thats part of the appeal for me on that first point you raised. On the second, 100% agree. Top dog for me.

The now famous Nurburgring Taxi Drive lap aboard the new M5.

The symphony the new engine provides is just awesome.

Precision: the driver is a lady.

"A big step forward" if so, which I am sure it is, it must be miles ahead of the rivals.

I'm not sure it has hit the dealerships yet. Probably after IAA.

Unless you're a journalist .

well, as long as you can´t get to drive the new M5, maybe an authentic M5 USB key ?
seriously, on offer at the IAA, according to Der Spiegel

Already on order, costs $ 45 here, so decided to upgrade from the "non" M BMW USB key that I already have.

Well, lemons can happen for sure. But I don't think they're enough to change my opinion on the Ultimate Driving Machine. As I get back to mine after a day's work I thank God that I'm fortunate enough to drive one. It's so rewarding.

What was your problem and which model did you have?

models, going back to the late 70s. starting with a 1600ti, then a 2002tii, a 320i, a 320i Alpina, the first acting up crazily, with the drivers seat ripped out of the floor while accellerating, then a - relatively - boring 525i to the one who ended it all, a 735i with totally crazy electronics.

After many, many problems it finally broke me when it started acting up on a drive from Vienna to Budapest, turning on and off lights & wipers at will, at the end locking the car and windows & refusing to open, with me and two customers inside. had to drive it to a BMW garage on the way, at least my window was half open so I could communicate with the mechanics, could neither open the doors with handles, keys or remote, we had to crawl out through the sunroof at the end.

Not being the slimmest person on earth and far from a Huodini, this was among the least dignified moments of my life; got rid of this lemon immediately.

My next car was a XJ6, reliable and sturdy compared to the 735i. fell in love with the Range after that, so no way back to BMW.

 Sorry to hear that. Never had one single problem for the last 40 years or so with BMW. From the 2000 up to the E39 540iA Touring or my wife's E91 325i Touring. Total of 17 BMWs. Not that many but I tend to keep my cars longer than average.
