Anyway I stopped by an Omega AD and, although a very nice watch, I did not fall in love with the PO... Just something about it didn't seem like it was the right watch to commemorate a birth. Back to the drawing boards...

I didn't realize a PO was the main Omega you were considering - you said you wanted a dress/casual non-chrono. The PO can be worn in dressy situations, but it's definitely more sporty than dressy. Given what you say you're looking for, I'm thinking you might want to at least check out the Aqua Terra - it definitely straddles the line between dress and casual. On the other hand, that could be why some people consider it lacking in identity. I'm hoping the new dials liven it up, because it does have a lot going for it.

Well, the PO was one that I tried on, admittedly I did not have a ton of time to look at everything. I didn't see the deville there which after you recommended it I looked at on the web. I definitely need to keep looking... At everything.

ok if it were me spending the 10k between me and the mrs this is what i would do.

for me new rolex explorer 2 42mm black dial

for the mrs buy her a nice purse for 2000-2500 bucks.

lets be honest most women (unless they are WIS ladies) would rather have a bag. my wife keeps saying that i should buy her a Rolex but i bet if i came home with a different purse for her she would be just as happy and probably get more use out of it.

I like the two watches FEAR posted - especially since they are the same brand, it's a his/her combo.

If you want them specifically as a pair, I think there's a lot to be said for them being the same brand.

Here's my suggestion:
Yours: Calibre de Cartier
Hers: Cartier Tank Francaise quartz, small size

You won't get diamonds on the Tank within your budget, unfortunately. But you are getting a versatile and dressy piece with a new in-house movement for you, and a timeless classic for her.

everyone that i have talked with is saying 7750 so that leaves the op around 2250 for the purse.

Thanks for the idea and I actually love that watch... however I may be inheriting it one day as my dad just picked one up... and it's a beaut.

The new Calibre de Cartier is a nice one, for sure. It's also a great choice for commemorating your daughter's birth, since it's a pretty significant model for Cartier. You might be up against it on the budget, though. On bracelet, it's listing at $7700, up 10% from just a few months ago. Compounding the problem is Cartier's stingy discounts, about on a par with Rolex. You might be better off waiting for the inheritance.

What about his/hers reverso's? That would be a pretty sweet setup

I like the Reverso, and it's a contender for me. My wife wasn't really interested though... Right now it's looking like the Chopard Happy Sport with three diamonds (one for my wife, our daughter, and our soon to be daughter). For me, I really like Jacksonstone's suggestion on the http://www.omegawatches.com/gents/seamaster/aqua-terra-chronometer/23110422106001 Aqua Terra. I still have some time, and I'm open to suggestions!

What dial color(s) are you considering?

I'm guessing discounting doesn't happen on brand new models, either, does it? Too much demand for a short supply.
