Yes, thanks for taking the time write up the outstanding review! It's great to be able to get a feel for the rarer brands that are difficult to see in person.

I'm still thinkin' about a Moon Dust. I'll be in Pittsburgh next month, where amazingly there is an RJ dealer (no RJ ADs in Vegas, but Pittsburgh has one...go figure). Hopefully they have one in stock I can look it.

Don't tell anyone, but just between the two of us I actually like that.

Not so keen on the price however!

cant blame ya, that thing has more innovation in its crown than the next three watch brands

the price is     but for only 30 made, they gotta get teh research costs from someone

Brilliantly written and honest review Prof.

I have to say I really like the style of the watch (but then you should expect that if you see my own collection  )

I have to agree with you about your slight misgivings with the orientation of this watch. The Titanic was indeed a tragedy. Roman Jerome have just announced a watch made out of the Icelandic Volcanic Ash that recently caused so much disturbance and upheaval in the northern hemisphere.

Having said that I love the watch and I applaud RJ for breaking the mold with their designs and trying to add something unique to the horological industry. The Moon Watch definitely gets both of my thumbs up.

I also think that the plain rubber strap suits the watch. It highlights the great attention to design (if not detail) of the watch face/case. I love the anchor style rotor as well.

My I ask: What is the significance of having 2012 limited editions of this timepiece?

All in all, this is a great review of an awesome timepiece. Many thanks for sharing.

2012 will be the 100th anniversary of the titanic disaster. I think it's a shame to profit from a disaster of any kind....moon watch is cool...but pieces from the titanic? Volcanic ash?? What's next?? BP oil spill watch??

Yeah, that's the reasoning, although 1912 would have made more sense.

I can understand that sentiment, as I said it was something that I thought hard about before making what had to be a personal decision.

Thanks for the comments guys, only problem now is trying to top this one

Let's see where Panerai take these - they have sparked my interest a little this year and while I won't be buying anything yet I like the direction of the 339, the concept of skeletons, etc. If I did have a spare $160k lying around then the Radiomir would be a contender.

Now wait a minute, I am going to stop the kidding here for a sec. Are you actually telling me that ROFF is now considering a future Panerai purchase?????!!! :crazychanger:

Excuse me while I go and check if the world froze over.......nope still 110 degrees out :idontgetit: :supereek: :huh

 I really am going to take a moment and enjoy this Roff  I remember when I made this prediction, to your objection

Well, I look forward to welcome you to the dark side when that faithful day does come. And your first custom made strap is on me  :panerai I might also be in a perpetual state of "I told you so"

I don't want to mislead anyone, I'm not about to run out and buy one. However, I do have to sit up and take notice when a brand declares that it is going completely in house. At the same time they are making design changes that suggest that they are prepared to bring more variety to the brand.

With my pursuit of something 'different', Panerai don't do it for me as the look is similar, but the 339 is more visually appealing, and the skeleton is beautiful.

Am I coming around to Panerai, no, not yet, but if progress continues in the direction that they started in 2010 then it could happen.

I will admit that my view of the numbers has changed and I now don't think that they are drawn by six year olds.
