As many of you know I am looking to trade between 1 and 5 watches for a Breitling B1, I am talking to a few people but no deal has been finalised yet, I called a UK watch dealer yesterday who said he would be interetsed in taking some of my watches for a 2003 B1 that he has in stock, Its advertised at £1450 but I know he paid a LOT less for it, The deal he wants is this
Top Time

Sprint

Navitimer 3100

I think he is asking too much but at least he offers a years waranty with his watch

So you would trade all 3 for the B1 ?!? Since I like the Sprint on it's own more than the B1 it's needless to say I thing he is going to do one hell of a trade in my opinion if you decide to go through with this.

I dont think I would but I have one hell of an itch for the B1 and as I dont have the funds to buy one then I may have no choice in the end, I want to sell the watches to people that wil keep them and not to someone who just veiws them as a way to make more money,For example I sold a Chronospace to a mate for £500 he then sold it to the dealer for £650 and the dealer who is the same one as offering this deal has it in his shop for £1250 thats at least a 100% profit margin and I dont want that to happen. If someone else with a B1 wants to make me a better offer Ill go for it :lingsrock:

Well the B1 looks like typical dealer price, I think its too expensive as well. But at least you have some comeback with the warranty etc.

If you think you could sell all 3 of your watches for more than the £1450 then perhaps it could be worth holding out.
A B1 on the private market will sell for a fair bit less,

but one thing I have learnt with watches is price isn't everything and no matter how cheap it is, if its beaten to crap or something is wrong with it, I'm just not gonna be happy. Sometimes you just have to pay that little bit extra

Out with the old and in with the new...especially if the new is something you really want....

BTW....I may be doing something similar, pretty soon.... :?

The dealer has to turn around and sell the watches you're trading in and he needs to make money. You're better off selling them yourself, but just trading them eliminates the trouble of finding a buyer for them. If the B-1 is the watch you want, then do the deal. If you wait to sell your watches, there will be other B-1s out there.

Slow down! Sell each of yours individually. Get fair market value for each without rushing into a hasty deal because the B1 is something you desire at this specific moment in time. Once your watches sell then look for a nice B1. Lots of B1's in the world. My suggestion is to take your time and get a fair value for your watches :)

:yeahthat

No reason to rush... Plus a black/grey dial might look better.

The model reference number listed for that B-1 (A68362) is a non-SQ model and they date until 2001.

A 2003 model would be SQ (reference no. A78362) and it would have "chronometre B-1" on the dial.

I wouldn't pay that much for a non-SQ model, warranty or not. Maybe bargain for a better price?
