Hi All !

I took the advice of several postings on this thread and actually read and/or skimmed through half or so of Archie’s past writings on this site –very illuminating fellow to say the least.

It appears that Archie at best has a very low-self esteem about himself. Archie tries to be who he is not by buying luxury items that he cannot afford and perhaps does not even appeal to his taste but convey the image that he wants to others. At worst he is just a shallow self gratuitous man or to put it in other words “A BLOW HARD!”

Either way this man unfortunately has not seen the light as of yet, that can be inferred by his latest posting – The only people I feel sorry for are his family!

Also I am not rich – I am not even employed at the present time – I am collecting unemployment – I may end up going back to graduate school for a career change due to the fact that presently I cannot secure employment. I will do anything to avoid ending on public assistance but I will not use class envy like you do Archie to legitimize and/or rationalize maladaptive behaviors!

GET PROFESSIONAL HELP ARCHIE!

Personally I had issues owning a watch after being on this forum..... are these the "type of people" I really want as friends? Are these the type of (to use a Patek word) "values" I aspire to?

I find it very hard to own a watch which is essentially a reworked Val. 7750 movement.... just like a Hamilton......

I bought the Patek for the movement.....

Anyhow.... I am so pleased I will not be in this "group" for much longer.....

You didn't buy the Patek for the movement, you bought it for "bragging" rights pure and simple.

That's like saying you bought your luggage to carry your clothes - you didn't - you bought it so everyone can see what you can afford - like everything else with your life.

I'm still trying to decide if this post is very funny or very sad.

BTW, most people around me are wearing Citizens, Seikos, etc.
I wear a Breitling but this doesn't mean that I'm richer than them. Not at all. In fact, the truth is quite the opposite.
It merely means that I appreciate finer watches, while they are not moved by them so much. They prefer to spend their money on photography stuff, bikes, whatever.

Don't be so defensive when it is clear what you were trying to say. I was just trying to be nice when I made my first post on this thread... Just out of curiousity did you take your kids to this reunion and show them off? I doubt it because they aren't made of gold! You know the funny thing is I am in a business full of people that have been around far longer than I have and can be called the elite. Well the funny part of this story is they don't drive mercedes and don't wear fancy watches or clothes. Funny thing is expensive things don't mean anything in this world. Every item no matter if it is .99 or 10000.00 holds a value its owner. They won't make people look at you any better.
You need some help in the self esteem department and I hope you get it before you bankrupt your family!
