@driver: fully understand your point and personal feelings!

only have to disagree with the "dumbed down sliderule" comment on the New Navitimer - we removed the tachymeter scales that Schneider had added; out of place on a pilot's toolwatch, as you'll agree if you think it over for a moment?

the current dial scales on the New Navitimer are based on Scott Carpenter's modification specs to optimize the Navitimer in readability and function; don't really think he wanted to dumb it down?

So any news on the aerospace ? Yet another week with new retro looking watches

Think it over, as a pilot I had to many times compute ground speed used for other calaculations, how do you think we did it?

I have the Navi World, which has a GMT scale in lieu of the tachymeter, so I always use the slide rule to establish the speed ratio and read the output over the 60 triangle. I'm almost embarrassed to say that until Driver8 mentioned the lack of the tachymeter scale on the new Navis, I never realized the standard Navi had one. I learned to use an E6B when I got my pilot's license, which doesn't have a tachymeter. The upside to using the slide rule is that you don't have to have time for just one unit (mile, Km, inch, whatever). I can calculate any distance over any time and determine the hourly rate. Granted, having never had a tachymeter I've never used one, so maybe I'm missing the boat on why it's so great. I'm not sure how I'd use it if I had one.

as stated, there was no tachymeter scale on the E6B "Flight Computer" and there was no tachy scale on the original Navitimer.

but..... guess what, pilots knew how to calculate ground speed (or could look i9t up in the manual):



The "70th Anniversary Navitimer" sliderule is based on Scott Carpenter's suggested layout specs to provide the best combination of functionality AND readability - think he's quite a reliable source, so forgive me if we'll continue to follow his advice?


In general, allow me to give that "will Breitling ever make a revival" theme a bit of grounding in reality.
(I admit to being biased, as I've been working for Georges as a consultant since the took over the helm, so I'll resort to external data by Morgan Stanley to hopefully make my point).

In 2017 when CVC bought Breitling and Georges took over as CEO, we had a market share of 1.3%, position 15 in the "State of the Industry" Morgan Stanley report.



In 2022, after 5 hugely successful years of outperforming the competition, Breitling is in position 9, with a market share doubled to 2.6%.
