I do understand where you are coming from. And would agree as most brands tend to overstate the WR, not to mention the rating usually deteriorates with time. However, IWC states that their watches rated at 6 bar are guaranteed for swimming and snorkeling purposes. In fact that’s exactely what this summer edition was designed for.

My concern is more geared towards too many purchases. And this one might be too frivolous. I could sell the Omega to get this...

I suppose I am thinking out loud, and I do appreciate the collective input.

That is a beautiful watch! Ever since I have been looking to include different manufacturers in my collection, my attention has been drawn to the Yacht Club as the IWC representative. I say go for it, but before you do just check out the ardoise dial before you make your final decision!

I've always had an issue with the Yacht Club where it looks too much like a dress watch but it was only available in the rubber strap so I felt like it had an identity crisis. Personally, I'd just keep the PO and pass on the IWC. I'd get through SIHH and Basel and then reevaluate if you actually need another watch.

Adrois is gorgeous, but would be repetitive as I have the perpetual calendar in that. Plus it would completely change the spirit of the watch.

Its just that its the perfect laid back pool/yacht watch. I am so silly!

This is what all watch manufacturers should adopt IMO. It's ludicrous having a watch say "30m WR", but in the real world it means "Take care washing your hands". Imagine if the road speed limits worked the same way - the limit is 70 mph, but it really means 10 mph. For people who are new to watches you can easily understand how they could quickly ruin a 30m WR with a quick dip in the pool.

Spot on Driver, the whole water resistance rating system for watches s a joke. I cant believe the Swiss out of all people have not developed a better standard!

IWC did a very good job overall. I stopped by the AD as I was in the area to ogle the watch, it is so sticking! Anyway, I asked the AD and he confirmed I can definitely swim with it as per IWC, and even stated snorkeling was absolutely fine.

I am fighting this temptation, eve if I sell the Omega which is now redundant, I just got the VC Overseas, a far better and more capable watch with the same theme, and even comes, free of charge, with a rubber strap with the same effect! Its just the IWC is so crisp and lively, the white subdials and tachymeter give it a lighter mood and that implementation of the numerals is perfection!

Must resist!!!
