My B50 Cockpit has been working fine since the original problem when it was less than a month old and the crown and stem fell out, and it was serviced by Breitling in Switzerland (the only place that could service it at that time) . The only problem I have had was a charger issue about 8 months ago, when the watch got hot. When I first got it back from Switzerland , it was running "slow", about 1 second every 8 or 10 months! It is now 3 years about 3 1/2 years old and has not been serviced; accuracy is about 1 second slow about every 4 to 5 weeks, well within specs, I believe.

I generally subscribe to the idea "if it ain't broke, don't fix it," and, since the electronic warranty is 2 years which coincides with the water resistance check requirement, I have not sent it in for any kind of servicing.

Has anyone had a "minor" or "major" service overhaul on their B50l? At what age? What result with respect to the returned watch's accuracy and the refinishing/buffing of the titanium case, etc.?

I purchased a B50 around 2 years ago new. Had a ton of problems with the LCD displays but they fixed them all. This was in the first few months of ownership though. Since then I have had zero problems with the watch. Wear it every day and it does get some scuffs from time to time. I just rub it gently with a little green scrub pad and the scratches just disappear. Careful around the Bezel though as the letters are easily buffed off. Also, follow the grain when buffing. Mine still looks brand new after about 2 minutes of rubbing and cleaning on occasion. It is a quartz watch so I would not worry as much about the service unless you are in the water a lot.
