First new watch I've shared on the forum for a while, but as I already said I was "on the list" for one on here a while back, I just thought I share a couple of pics when it arrived. :D

If ever there's an advert for cultivating a good relationship with an AD, this is it. I signed up for a BLNR at my two local Rolex AD's at the same time a few months ago. The AD I'd never previously bought from put me on their list and told me I was number 37 in line. The AD I've bought a number of watches from over the years put me on their list and wouldn't tell me where I was, but that they would "look after me". Fast forward a couple of months, and my 'usual' AD suddenly has one in with my name on it, while a quick call (purely out of curiosity) to the other AD revealed I was STILL at number 37!

So while it's no major surprise that loyalty and a good relationship can sometimes pay off, this REALLY shows the benefit as both AD's told me they get around 4 BLNR's in per year......which means at the other AD I'd potentially be waiting over 9 years to get to the top of the list (assuming no-one above me on the list dropped out).

Anyway, I'm not planning to review it here as, a) I've just bought it so I will OBVIOUSLY love it! and b) there are already a billion reviews of this watch on the net already and I'm pretty sure that everything that can be said, has been said. So here's just a couple of quick and dirty pics before I'd even wound it, and still with some of the plastic on it! -

I must be honest but I'm really enjoying the 40mm super-case size. In fact, it just dawned on me that this is the first 40mm watch I've owned since my old (and long gone) 50th Anniversary LV -

I know it has its detractors (especially within the Rolex community), but the super-case of the ceramic models is a much better shape for those of us with reasonably sized wrists. Mine are 7.75" and the old LV always felt just a little small, whereas the BLNR feels perfect.

Anyway, I'm hugely chuffed....and especially so given the relatively short wait I had!

Congrats Driver! Nothing wrong with a little Rolex love, I wore my SubC today and could easily wear that watch everyday. It's just so damn comfortable.

Thank you gents - I appreciated your kind words. I'm trying really hard not to wax lyrical about this watch as it's all too easy to do so when we get a new timepiece, but damn, it was definitely worth the wait! Lovin' it. :D

Congrats! I remember that you were sourcing for yr perfect Rolex sometime back. I am quite surprised that the batman ended up as yr final choice and I didn't expect you to buy a new one instead of preowned. Perharps you have decided to keep it forever? Anyway it's definitely a great choice and I simply love watches that transform visually in different lighting condition. This is my personal perfect Rolex. Wear in good health!

Thanks!

This one was always going to be keeper for me, so I really wanted to buy it brand new from an AD and have my name on the papers. In actual fact, mine came still in the factory shipping box when I picked it up. My guy at the AD even let me open it so it was totally untouched by anyone since leaving Rolex : very minor thing but just a nice little touch. Also as luck would have it, pre-opened BLNRs are going for more than list at the moment in the UK, so buying new was actually cheaper than buying used.

And yes I totally agree about the bezel taking on different characteristics in different lighting conditions. It's an absolutely stunning watch.......and not to mention deadly accurate thus far - it's gained less than 2 seconds in 96 hours.

Thanks Matt. The LV Sub has long gone as I just couldn't get to grips with the hollow-link bracelet and tin-foil clasp.... but the head itself was a real beauty to my eyes.

Thanks a lot Tim - hope you're doing well yourself.

Just as an aside, and I've said it before in this thread, but this watch is INSANELY accurate at the moment. I don't ever get too hung-up on the accuracy of my mechanical watches (provided they're within COSC tolerance), but my BLNR currently only gains around a third of a second a day! I honestly couldn't wish for better.

Great new addition. I love the super case and the ceramic inserts. I've had my Sub just over three years and it still looks fantastic without a single mark on the insert.
