Hello all I just bought this beautiful transocean chronograph off the bay. I've been lusting for it for a while. I got it for 2850 usd. It's not exactly as described though the crystal is scratched up the case has a few dents and the clasp on the bracelet is loose. Is the watch still worth keeping? Am I being too OCD? Or should I just send it back for a refund? Are these easy fixes? Can the clasp be tightened?

Clasp is an easy fix, scratched crystal will mean replacement - at least a couple of hundred bucks, and dents may be able to be polished depending on severity. Plenty of these around and if item wasn't as described then why settle?

Looks pretty neat. Nice. I would have no issue wearing this as is.

Given that some replacement and refinishing costs are to come to correct any impact damage, you need to factor this into the equation on the price paid. You might be able to correct some of the damage yourself and at minimal cost. Possible.

Depending on whether the seller indicated the defects in the written description or in any photos, you would not have noticed the condition until the watch turned up, unless you asked the obligatory questions first. But having said that, you would expect some wear on anything that has not been refurbished or advertised as in 'Mint' condition.

I don't think you can go back on the deal (IMO) as to price paid alone, as its 'buyer beware'. So in the final analysis and given its condition, was it a good buy? That's really for you to answer and factor in. One photo is not enough to tell but on the plus side the condition looks good to me.

Just my 2 cents worth.

Enjoy.

really depends on how you feel about it... personally for that price I'd happily wear it, polish out the scratches myself, fix the clasp and then replace the crystal at the next service.

The crystal on the TOC will always cop a bit of a beating in day to day wear since it sits so proudly above the case.

I'd wear it and enjoy it now and then get it fixed at service time.

Your the only person who knows if the things you mention are going to bother you to the point you are better off just sending it back.

If it was me, I would compare the repair cost plus actual purchase cost to what the max I would have bid for the watch. If it is still below the max then I'd keep it and be happy. If not, I'd send it back and continue the search.

I just bought this watch new with a crocodile band :) It's beautiful. I would just see the price of getting everything fixed. At the price you bought it, you still will have a steal once every scratch and ding is fixed!

For $2850 if it has box and papers I'd buy it from you if your not happy. Need to see some pics of the "imperfections" but by the one pic it looks good

An excellent price even with the "warts and all", although I'd be slightly worried about any necessary warranty work, presuming that it is within date.

I would keep it and get it overhauled eventually when you are ready to part with it for a month or so. It still would be a good value even after the service. Nice pick up!

I'm late to the party on this, but you've made the right decision to keep it IMO. The price you paid is absolute steal so I completely echo the others that if it was mine I'd happily wear it and get anything that needs sorting done at the next service.
