Not a button, as said it is gear access and yes, the bezel gears.

It's a 1:3 ratio gear driven bezel so one complete turn of the outer ring result in a 1.3 turn of the slide rule. It's super smooth, best bezel action I've used so far.
The only down side is aligning the bezel screws to the same point on each lug, the ratio gears mean you have to cycle it through several turns to get them bang on.

On my sky racer, I have to cycle many many times to get a true alignment. The gear ratio just does not seem to work through easily. Not that I worry about it that much, it's just a similar observation.

Hmm, maybe I'm having a blonde moment but I don't get this on my Chronospace. If, on my watch, I have the red 60 lined up at exactly 12 o'clock and I rotate the bezel, the '60' just follows the bezel around the dial, one way or the other so no gearing effect on mine. In other words, the point on the scalloped bezel in line with the 60 matches in rotation, so that would be 1:1 would it not. Am I missing something or does mine have a problem?

Panic over guys. I've just checked and yes the inner slide- rule does rotate less than the bezel ring, by about a third. You learn something new every day.

Jeeeez, what I should have said is
bezel rotates less than slide rule scale, pardon my sloppyness.
Now, question, why is there a rotational difference?

Dude. My Bezel and Side rule rotate together. Then I have the printed numbers on the outside of the face of the watch. Only the bezel rotate and the numbers on the face is static. Does both your bezel numbers and your face numbers rotate ??

If I get you correctly, and you have slide rule scales, then your watch is doing what it should do. You can't make calculations unless the bezel and scale rotate. If you use the practice scales (if you have them) that come with Breitlings fitted with slide rule scales you will notice the same thing. Also, refer to the manual which also comes with the set, as it shows you how to make calculations on your watch.
