Unless I'm missing something I didn't see anything wrong with that one. Looks like a very nice example and it went for a good price.

Dial looks a little too good to be true, but the rest of it looks OK to me.

dial most probably (and expertly !) refinished as Roff says, but nice, authentic & went at a very decent price. yes, those things do happen in Argentina.

I thought a watch marked with "xxx 26" was reserved for an automatic watch with a date window. "94" or "95" for calendar with moonphase.

I would lean to this being a pretty fake.

Nothing specifically in the Richter book although 244/26 seems to come up a lot through Google.

. . . but I think it's additionally odd that these examples have 1956 case dates.

Paul, Farfo is one, but the other examples that do come up belong to one of the least trusted sources imaginable.

I saw those too but the fact is they have similar ref/ser numbers which indicates the dates and cases are consistent for the period and there are also moonphases in that reference group that don't appear to be automatics. The only similar models I could find in the Richter book are dated 1952 but are very similar. At first I thought the B crown might not be correct but if it's from the 1950's it's probably alright. In the 1950's Breitling put out some strange pieces, of which I have a couple, so I think almost anything is possible. This one is just going to be another anomoly that nobody can prove anything on.
