Hi!
Just received my first Breitling. Bought it used online. It appears to me that it is genuine, but I would like to be 100% sure. The watch is old and worn, probably from between 1992 and 1995. The hands on the watch makes a reflection on the glass which is anoying. Is this because the coating is worn? Or does this indicate that the watch could be fake?
If the watch appears to be genuine, I will send it in to Breitling to have it refurbished.

Thanks in advance for your input :)

It's genuine. Made sometime between 1992 and 1998.

Great! We don't see too many early Colts on here these days, so it'll be good to see it when it's back from Breitling.

And in answer to your question about the AR coating, then yes there is a chance it may have worn off a little over the years. The watch looks in pretty good condition generally, but it's obviously been worn given the slight bracelet stretch, so there's every change the AR may have suffered a bit of wear over the years. Breitling will sort it out (by replacing the crystal), but expect a bill!

The glass appears to be very matte (canĀ“t think of a better english word to describe it). So I am guessing that this is from wear and tear over the years.

Seending it in tomorrow, so hopefully it will not be away for too long :)

Had the same model, got it in NOS condition.
Believe that those old Colts had AR only from inner side of crystal.

I never had one of those myself, so I never knew that. Good info!

I'm 99% sure, but will check in old catalogs.

It doesn't say anything about glare proofing, just that the crystal is mineral. Only in '96 catalog, Colt Superocean has mineral crystal "glareproofed front and back", but for regular Colt it says just mineral crystal without mentioning "glareproof".

Times like this I wish I hadn't sold all my old Chronologs! I used to have a full set from '96. :?

I guess the OP will find out for certain when Breitling take a look at it.

I was ready to get rid of my "treasure" (handbooks, choronologs, catalogs, the book), probably I still am, but now someone needs to offer me much higher amount than before. And that's not going to happen. :)
