Post subject:  Seawolf legit or not?

Hi guys,

yesterday a colleague on work offered an Avenger Seawolf A17330 grey dial on rubber pro II to me. His price is really not bad at all. But the watch is incomplete. Only the Bakelite-box, operations instructions manual and leather box come with the watch. Papers are missing!
I had the chance during lunch time to take some pics with my phone. What do you think? Legit or not? I'm really unsure about the missing papers. Watch is looking good to me.

Watch is real, shame about the paperwork. If you know and trust your colleague it needn't be a deal breaker.

Many thanks so far. Now I'm seriously thinking about buying it. I called him again and he told me paperwork got lost during move. Watch is from 2009.
He's willing to give me a discount of 10% because of missing papers. So I would have to pay a little bit over 2K EUR.
Compared to chrono24 and the bay. Really O. K. I think?

If the watch has not yet been serviced then that it will need an overhaul or at least a service. That will be a significant cost if you use the recommended Breitling service centre. Bear in mind that Chrono 24 is a retailers site and many offer a warranty.

Oh. O. K. I think it never has been serviced. But rarely worn. So any casework is not necessary.
I've got a great watchmaker near to me. Will ask him for service cost first. That's helpful arguing another pricedrop.

A rarely worn watch is likely to be more in need of a service as the oils don't circulate and are more likely to settle and congeal. Sorry I'm not helping to make you more happy...............

That's o. K. Very helpful to know! As I mentioned...I will tell the seller and ask for another pricedrop. Will try to push him under 2K...

The condition does look good so that's a bonus.

That's too much money on rubber. You'll definitely need a service, and that would set you back quite a bit of money.

I forgot to mention: SS bracelet comes with the watch, too. But has many swirls and needs to be rebrushed. Safety fold over clasp part is a tiny bit bended but nothing spectacular.

hi,

for what it's worth...

if it's 2009 and has rarely been worn, i would consider a full service. good news is that includes a full bracelet refurb if you send her on the bracelet, so you'll get her as good as new...
bad news is that will set you off ca. €500!

if you add the missing paperwork (which, as much as you trust your colleague, is decreasing the value of the watch, especially if you ever want to sell her on) it's not worth €2,000 in my book...

unless there some urgency (never good when you're considering such an investment), i'd wait as there are much better deals to be had!

2015 / 2016 avenger seawolf watches with all paperwork and in very good nick are fairly common on the bay for around €2,000...

good luck with your quest!

Not an easy decision... You're right. The current models can be bought nearly for a similar amount of money. That would be an easier choice.
Now it's depending on a price drop for the mentioned Seawolf. Will speak to my colleague tomorrow.
Otherwise there are so much other offerings.

Post subject:  Re: Seawolf legit or not?

Based on your posts I made following calculation for myself:

1) Watch is in good shape:
I would pay 2000€ for it

2) Missing paperwork: -10%=200€

3) Service necessary: -350€

So I made my colleague an offer about 1450€. He dismissed. So I will search for another Wolf in better condition.

Many thanks for your help. I appreciate it!
