Upper picture is only for comparison.
As you can see, the Ref.-Nr. is missing at the strap. Fake or not?

I am no expert, but looking at the fonts, the badge, the finish of the internal leather at the lug ends, stitching, and what you point out, I would say fake

I would be careful before calling it fake, the strap in question is from years ago and since then, Breitling has changed it fonts. Just recently it changed its fonts once again to a more block style, in my opinion a lot easier to copy. I would wait for someone who might have a older strap to compare it to to chime in, you need to compare apples to apples!

Looks like a real older strap to me. Little too much guesswork in the replica section lately......

I will keep my mouth shut as well from now on, but I thought the point of the replica forum was to attempt to keep innocent buyers from purchasing fakes and learning to better identify the fakes from more experienced members so we will all be more accurate. The more of us looking for fakes, I'd think the better off the buying public, even if we screw up here and there. If we are afraid to post something suspect for fear of being ridiculed, it's hard to learn anything. That's just my two cents...

I have absolutely no issue with people posting suspect items. However, we have to recognise that this section receives visits from members who have never been here before and will never be back. They don't know the difference between experts like Adrian, Sanjin (welcome back by the way) and Fred and people who don't really know but offer opinions anyway. The replica section of this site used to be far more active and was responsible for removing hundreds, likely thousands of fakes with no mistaken identification simply because those who knew said so, those who didn't waited for those who did. With something as important as reputations and money on the line that seems like a good approach, there are many other areas of the site where opinions are always welcome.

That's just my two cents.

I think it's a point good Roff, I am amazed at how many people are trying to rip people off on the www with just Breitlings at the moment

One seller I have spotted has moved off the bay and is selling on both Gumtree and Shpock at the same time with a disgusting fake

Quote "I paid £9000 for this last year - selling it for £3500"

On another note, I was amazed at the quality of a replica steelfish I saw today

Thank you for your opinions and advices.
It is quite possible that this croco strap is an old one and no fake. The seller location is spain and the strap is a part of an warehouse liquidation.

Did anyone know until what year this old straps were produced?

To be fair, it still could be fake. It's almost 100% impossible to tell just from pictures, however this does look correct to me. Just make sure the seller is reputable and PayPal is your method of purchase than you should be ok.
