Hey Guys,

So Im new to this forum and Im looking to buy my first breitling, super excited but I want to make sure im buying the real watch not a fake one. Im in NJ and the watch i found is located in Europe, watch comes with only 1 yellow paper (warranty certificate) where it says "Switzerland" and name of the person or the store that sold it but thats the only piece of paper he has, he doesnt have the box or manual thats why im being careful. i spoke on the phone with the owner, he answered all the questions i asked, like is he the first owner, where did he buy it, why is he selling it, so he told me that he bought it in switzeralnd when he was on a vacation with his family, gave me the name of the store, i checked and the store is located in small town in the alps so everything checks out, he told me that he has a restuarant and i did find it by checking his name and stuff so everything looks good but again its my first watch so i dont want to spend money on a fake one, PS we will do the transaction via paypal so its secure. I attached few pictures let me know if this is enough. Thanks guys for help!

I can tell you that is not the original card that came with that watch. Since 2014, Breitling switched to the Digital Warranty Card, the yellow booklets were replaced. Breitling will have a hard time honoring the warranty when the booklet was replaced, unless you can provide a receipt to Breitling. Does he have the original receipt matching the date on the booklet?

I did purchase a watch from a local jeweler that still had the warranty booklet (yellow booklet) but I am able to provide a receipt of purchase matching the date on the booklet if there is any reason to. Also, my model & serial were printed into the booklet, not hand written like this one. I would not trust that booklet. Remember, when purchasing a used watch online, trust the seller, not the watch. If you trust the seller, go for it. If you are doubting it in any way, move on. You don't want to have an issue arise on an international transaction.

hey thanks for such a quick replay, is it possible that it was a 2014 model that had the older booklet but the watch was sold in 2015 thats why it has older booklet? Like i said everything checks out with the guy he seems honest but now u got me worried about the booklet, he told me thats the only piece of paper he has, all the serial numbers match but like u said it was written by a pen, im gonna call breitling on monday but when u call usa number (i have) they have only US breitling in their data base so i guess they wouldnt have this watch since was purchased in switzerland, also im gonna call the jeweler on monday to ask them about this watch, and he doesnt have the original receipt, i dont know what else to do in order to verify this watch, hope u guys can help, zbrockman06 thank you for your comment and thoughts! like i said im a newbie to this so i can use an experts opinion ;)

FAKE. Note the sunken date display and subdial spacing.

This one is real. Note the subdials are not touching the lume dots.

Definitely a fake.

1. Forged warranty.
It's true that some of the older 01s came with the older paper warranties (2012 models), but these were upgraded to the new digital warranties shortly after. It's hard to imagine that an AD would still have stock of 2012 01s. Also, zbrockman06 is correct: the serial number and model number are printed, not hand written.

2. Date Color
Standard 01s have a date display with a black background/white font. However, the older 01 Limited models did have the white background/black font, but then you should also see the clear case-back and etched numbers on the casing, which is absent from this 01.

3. Golden Breitling Logo
The logo just looks plain awful. This was the first thing I noticed because it doesn't have the "raised" appearance as the genuine 01s.

If you're buying this watch on Chrono24 or any other site, please contact the admin and get this seller reported. Looks like he's trying to pull a fast one...

Cheers,
Jeff

My new Chronomat flying fish bought last week from an AD has the card guarantee not the electronic one, due to the AD sending the machine back as they are no longer going to sell Breitling Watches, I do have the receipt but it still might be fun when I come to sell the Watch!
