Hello, I have spent days now looking for this watch on the internet and here.. I did buy it on Ebay, it will be here in a few days. My dads watch was stolen years ago and this is my first time buying.. If I could get your help in identifying this watch.. I have not seen this anywhere else with this Face..

I only have a 14 day period to return it if I don't like it, so I need some quick help, you guys and this site is awesome, but I dont know enough about these watches to know what I'm seeing.. here is the ebay link, please take a look maybe someone knows right off what the name is for this watch..

thanks in advance. http://www.ebay.com/itm/BREITLING-CHRON ... 6rk%3D1%26

It's a real Chronomat Vitesse from the late 90s.

Thanks for the reply... I paid $3600 for this one, no books or papers.. The seller says he does not know when the last service was done... So I was wondering, is there a way to call B to see when it was last serviced using the serial number?

And one important thing, and be honest please.. did I pay too much for this watch... keeping in mind I have not got it in my hands yet, but the photos look outstanding ( ref the link above)...

I am trying to learn of this has a battery or is just self winding.. I don't under stand yet what the 42 hours reserve means..

I am also trying to find a download manual as well...which model should I be looking for since the Vitesse was of limited production in 1999..

thank again for the answers and I look forward to researching this web site....

As for the price, its seems a bit high but not overly excessive for the model, the fact it has a UTC module adds a premium. That's just my gut opinion. It would have been best to compare the selling prices of similar watches before.

Not sure if a Breilting AD can have access to services history.
The watch is mechanical automatic but the UTC module is battery quartz. The power reserve is just the maximum time the watch will run without winding or movement

You can usually pick old manuals on Ebay. Any pre-Evo (pre 2004) Chronomat manuals will probably match the functionality of this watch. The three main things to note are:
1) Don't try to over-tighten the crown
2) Don't operate the pushers underwater
3) Dont try to change the date setting when the watch is making the date transition (eg between about 9pm and 2am)
as this can damage the gear wheel

8pm - 3am actually.

European ADs have access to service history now, doesn't seem to be elsewhere yet.

Awsome information.. thanks I did look on the internet for this model, of course I was handicapped with a lack of knowledge about this watch...model and name primarily, but looked for many hours and did not see another one that came close to this one with the Italic numbers, and the UTC added.. plus the condition of this one look great.. of course I will have a good look in person, even take it to a high end jewler to take a look and place a value on it..

Of course if anyone here can find me another watch like it that is nicer, has papers and a box and do it cheaper, PLEASE let me know now... I can returen this one within 14 days...
This was a BIg purchase for me, ive been waiting along time to afford a replacement of the one that was stolen many years ago...

I'm all eyes on your help and selecting another watch.. thanks in advance..

Sorry, being new, I did not understand, is there a way once I get the watch to call someone with the serial number and see when it was serviced last?

European ADs can check - I have no idea where you are as you haven't put a location in your profile. Outside of Europe ADs don't seem able to check yet. In the US the distributor (BUSA) used to provide that information for watches that originated in the US, but a member last week was told that they don't do that now.

Thank you, I thought it was exceptional, looking forward to getting it tomorrow... I was wondering.. I will want to wear it.. I'm concerned about scratches and damage from hitting it on doorways, whatever.. I see there are Bezel covers.. Are these worth it, ok to use.. of course I don't know what size to get right now.. Also it there a way to protect the band from getting dinged up..?

By the way, I did buy a nice protective watch winder/ case.. hope that meets approval...

Thanks for the advise on protection.. of course I will be real careful..

Bezel protectors aren't for use during wear.
