Hi everyone if a breitling comes with a certificate does that mean it's authentic if it matches the watch cert number

Usually, but if they can fake a watch they can fake a certificate and there are certainly fake COSC certs out there.

Are they common how do you work out real certificates

The commonest forged certificate is a fake COSC certificate that is sold as part of the 'Crosswind Special' fake box/paperwork kit. This is sold with a blank serial number so is easy to overprint. The easiest way to spot this fake is check the number of folds - the fake folds in 6 parts whereas genuine folds into 4.
