Post subject:  Fake Breitling Leather Straps on the Bay
Just found this seller nickg3259 (18) listing 3 Tan Breitling Leather Straps, all with the reference 435X. However, the 435X should refer to a black leather strap, not a tan one. This user was also previously known on on e-bay as nickgoldstein10 - he's just changed his username for some reason....

You are right and incorrect. Black smooth is a 435x and cowhide tan is also 435x. I never have bought a band on eBay from the UK and I am a collector who has 35-40 Breitling bands in either 20-18 or 22-20.

Didn't manage to see the listings, but 435X is 22/20 black leather tang type.

The smooth light Brown is 425X or 434X, the Brown is 437X or 438X, but a strap marked 435X should be Black, as per bnewbie.

Incidentally, I e-mailed the seller yesterday and asked if the straps he is selling are genuine - but to my utter amazement, I haven't had a reply as yet :shock: .

It's very good strap IMHO, I wouldn't report it unless ref# and underside (which is not so good quality) are visible.

Well dam-I got taken by this guy. Purchased a Tan 435x marked strap last month. I already had a black cowhide strap and I pulled it out and it is indeed 435x as its supposed to be. So now I wonder if I am to go through the trouble of returning it. It does seem to be a well constructed strap but I feel a bit wiser as a result of the experience. At least I can depend on goonermike for a genuine strap. I got a blue diver pro strap from him last month and its great-got it on my chronomat right now as i type this.

Oh well.....
