I get a call from a friend letting me know he gave my number to an acquaintance regarding a Navitimer for $2700. Watch was supposedly in a safe and in excellent condition but missing box and papers. We agree on $2000 if the watch is in mint condition. I speak to the guy on the phone and we agree to meet in a local bank parking lot. He hands me what looks like a great Navitimer. Something seems a little off with the glass, a little "bubble" looking. All engravings seem OK except the ones in the leather that looked a bit off. I push the chrono button and the inner dials just hop once. Click again and they do nothing except move erratically a little. Hand the watch back to the guy and thank him for waiting my time and he starts arguing with me that its 100% real and even gets upset that I called Gramps watch a fake! |
