Hi

I am new to this website and I have an issue with a friends watch
I will copy and paste the email I sent to Breitling

Since then Breitling have replied to say
A they think the watch is real but need to see it in person
B they are using Sellita movements
C if it is real they can’t understand why the case back was so loose

So I am going to send it to them to be looked at
But I’d appreciate any feedback from forum members also

I WILL SEND PICTURE IN A BIT I AM STRUGGLING TO SEND THEM I NEED TO RE SIZE THEM ALL FIRST

Email I sent is below

Hi,

Breitiling Automatic Navitimer 41
Model Number A17326
Serial Number 6265918

A friend of mine WhatsApp me a message of a watch and asked if I could remove links

When I saw the picture I became suspicions and said drop it in and ill take a look

When I examined the watch I wasn’t sure if it was a genuine Breitiling or a Fake

I turned it over and just turned the case back lightly with a rubber ball case opening device and it just came of very easy
( I tried this as I knew a brand new Breitiling watch would have to be opened in a specialist jig and vice machine )

This made me even more suspicious

The watch was purchased for him online as a present

So I have taken picture ( and attached them to this email ) and my questions are

A
Can you tell if this watch is Genuine or Fake ( from the picture )
Or would you have to see it in person

B
And if it is real why was the case back on only finger tight
Surly this wold need to be refitted and tested for water resistance

C
My friend said that the QR code worked for registering the Watch ( this is a big concern if it is not genuine )

PS the watch movement has marking SW-2001 ( I have shown a enlarge picture of this )

I looked this up as a watch movement made by Sellita ( This also made me suspicious as I didn’t think a genuine Breitling would have this movement inside

If you could please read and look at the information and please advise the next stage of action

Cal. 17 should be ETA, not Breitling anyway.
Maybe they changed supplier.
There were talks long time ago, about ETA won't be supplying that many calibers anymore.
I'm sure someone can explain it better.

Yes that’s why I thought but Breitling have email back to say they do use Sellita Movements
That haven’t confirmed that they use this caliber in this model
They still want to see it to confirm

A few things still make me suspicious

The case back just opened with a suction ball
& the screws came out very easily to take links out the bracelet

If Breitling are actually using these movements then how easy have they made it for people
To create very very good replicas

Makes you think if it’s actually worth buying one

No wonder Rolex AP & Patek are going up in value so much and un buyable

Has anyone on the forum had experience of very high quality replica watched
And do they think the one I’ve sent pictures of is a copy or is it real ?

If you follow the QR code on the warranty it shows a Navitimer Automatic 41, serial number 6265918, Model reference A17326241B1A1.
Does this match the watch? A few other details are also given (weight 139.0g). The warranty is valid to Nov 2023 so I assume this was bought in 2021? This would match with the bracelet date stamp (as much as can be seen)
The movement looks legit and the bracelet/endlink number/date stamps look real. Have you taken the bracelet off to look at the case date stamp?
I also note the protective film is still seen on the lugs also suggesting a recent purchase.
I think it is real if all the above matches with your watch.
