what do you all think of the following 2 models

Portugese Auto Steel black dial
Portfino hand wound with moonphase black dial

esp interested in long term view, looking to make some changes to the collection and add some mfg variety

I like them both very much. The Portofino had always been my favourite collection from an aesthetics standpoint, but the size was just too small (even for me), so the Portuguese became my range of choice and the Automatic is the stand out piece in that collection in my opinion.

With the Portofino model in the Vintage range addressing the size issue, it's a very tough call between the two of them, but as I've said before the customer service has turned me off IWC, at least for a while.

I have not seen the portofino in person but last week had one of the seven day power reserve Portuguese with the silver dial on my wrist, what a beautiful watch, I cannot imagine anyone owning such a watch and not finding immense satisfaction in it.

I loved the blued numbers of that model and the way the case is brushed on the sides, just exudes quality! I did see the black as well and though my "thing" is for white or silver dials I must admit the shimmer of the black dial is transfixing!

To echo ianmedium's comments, the 7 day Portuguese is a fantastic thing of beauty. Personally I love the white dial the most, but the black dial is superb too.

i own the silver/blue 5001, and imo both dials are just as beautiful. i'm extremely(!) happy with the silver, but feel i'd have the same joy owning a black. they just sparkle a little differently.

I have always been enamoured with the Portuguese. Just clasically gorgeous! :D

Stunning watches, both of them. That particular Portuguese is my favourite.

thanks for the input guys.

have found so detail pics of the Auto and the more i look the more im liking.

think when my Navi Fighters gets back from service it will be in the FS section as a contribution towards the IWC.

this will be the first time ill be venturing away from Breitling as a premium watch, i do have other brands but the Cartier was a gift (back on the wrist this week to ensure i dont get Breitling Sick) and a Certina and Accurist that were inherited.

The Portuguese Auto and Perpetual Calender II are striking watches, simply breath taking!! Very highly recomended.

Good luck!

The Portugese Auto with the silvery white dial is on my hit list too, very, very nice watch indeed.

Hi,

Portuguese, white dial, nice honey brown croc strap: sheer elegance
and beauty. Enjoy whichever you get; they're both fantastic pieces. :D
