You gusy might have noticed I put up my PAM 88 on the sale corner, what with the arrival of the 233 owning two GMT Panerais seemed.....redundant. So I thought I would sell it and get a 212 instead, thing is I really really like the 88 and it is a beutifull watch in its own right, so I probably will just keep it if it does not sell soon. Now the thing is I have always dremead of a PVD Panerai Luminor, the ones I have seen looked stunning! SO I have been contemplating sending in my 111 to IWW to do this:

Now just imagine that on a nice thick vintage strap!!!

However I like the classic simplicity of the 111 in steel as well, idealy I would own both but in that patch lies insanity. So I thought about doing the PVD on my 88 :!: What with the busy dial and very sporty look, could turn out to be stunning!

The great thing about Panerai is that not only do they encourage third party straps and the such, but they will service PVD coated watches as long as they do not have any internal modifications, in fact the warranty would still apply!

So what do you guys think, yay or nay?

Thoughts on PAMs aside, I could never live with a PVD treated watch. It's just nowhere near resilient enough to be practical in my mind, and when it does start to fail (which is only going to be months at best) it looks horrible.

While it pains me to do it, I fear I must agree with Roff here. PVD and watches go together like pineapples and wetsuits IMO! Avoid at all costs.

I personally do not like the PVD, and I would not take an expensive timepeice and go and add PVD afterwards... but that's me. If you are really dying for some PVD panny goodness, I say go for it! :) :mrgreen:

I´d say no also... that Panerai looks so damn good as it is, why "ruin" it?

If you are going to do it, do it on your 111. That is just my opinion. What are you alternatives? Buying a very expensive destro pvd Pam 26, if you can find one? I would say that you've done a pretty good job so far with your collection. If you want to have one of your perfectly fine Panerai beauties pvd, then go for it, who are we to stop you. :thumbsup:
