I was contemplating saving up and getting a RM10, one of their more understated designs. Having seen this release however I can very easily forget the brand altogether, and instead get something with some class, such as the VC Excellence Platine Annual Calendar for half the price.

What a joke! And here I though GP where going to be this years biggest losers.

I know you like (or rather "liked"!) RM, but to me this is just an extension of the vast majority of technically splendid, but aesthetically hideous TRIPE they churn out year on year.

Each to their own but those are some of the ugliest watches I've ever seen...bar none. Cannot believe the price. I guess there's a market for them...?

Shame on GP! They can share the corner with Piaget, I will simply never consider a company that shamelessly copies another's successful design so blatantly. Douchey.

I'm going to be a "lone voice in the darkness" and say that I don't actually mind these! I like the World Timer and I actually like the look of the Carbon Glass case. It's just a shame the World Timer isn't offered in the Carbon Glass case!

What I don't like is the DLC coated titanium. Why not black ceramic???

Fantastic design!

Agreed on this one though! Beautiful.

I've been looking today and I must be honest "the internet" is not being kind to the Code 11:59 AT ALL!

That said, there have been some hilarious comments that have made me genuinely chuckle. I won't link to them all, but the general consensus seems to be that -

a) The Code 11.59 are fantastic watches........for Lange's sales figures,
b) If the designer gets fired he'll have no problem finding another job........... at Fossil, Michael Kors, Guess, or Diesel,
and,
c) That the name sounds more like either a cheap fashion perfume, or a Miami nightclub that's trying too hard to be trendy!

I shouldn't laugh but....

Not my words I hasten to add : they merely just amused me (although do I kind of agree with them!)

OK So those quotes are funny

I still think the harsh reaction is merely the internet being the internet. Thew new line is an absolute KILLER! I cant wait for mine!

I mean seriously, take a look at that picture and explain to me what's not to like?

At first chance it looks like a classic chronograph sports watch, and with closer inspection you can find innovative case arcitecture and hidden complexity. Love it! I cant wait for mine!!!

Couldn’t disagree more with that assessment. The Laureato has its own history dating back to the 70’s. I think it stands on its own as a great looking watch, and I’m glad to see GP developing this line.

Incidentally, I like the Clou de Paris dial on a Laureato infinitely more than the RO hobnail dial.

I think the carbon glass case looks very cool — very interesting from a technical perspective, as well.

I agree with you on this one, Altair. I think the Code 11.59 will be one of those watches that needs to be experienced on the wrist to be fully appreciated. I think it’s one of the standouts of SIHH this year.

Check out the Freak X in this video:

Just goes to show that sometimes a static photo doesn’t quite capture things...

I'm warming slightly to the 1159. Altair reminded me in his posting of his overseas how bland I thought that watch looked until I saw it in person. But after seeing the overseas in person, I absolutely love it . That type of dial where it is created by layering is hard to capture in pictures. There is a certain depth that can't be seen in pictures.

The few videos I have seen of the 1159 have not wowed me either, but I think I can keep an open mind about it until I can see the dial in person. It's well out of my price range being only in precious metal, but I would still like to see it

To eich their own. I can guarantee that the code 11:59 will be a tremendous success. The only thing I dislike is the name.

The GP will fade away, regardless of their technical and material innovation, a watch built on another icon is doomed to fail. I have the same feelings towards Piaget's Polo series. I genuinely liked those watches when I saw them, but just cant shake the feeling that's its an attempt to fuse Patek's Aquatimer and Nautilus design language and just go from there. Say what you will about AP, at least they are being original and taking chances, and that to me is the mark of a true segment leader.

here’s an article by Fratello, one of the only watch blogs that write their honest opinion, not copy paste from press releases, like and respect them.

RJ Broer’s take on the Auto 1159: “Just like you have beautiful people that are not very photogenetic, you also have watches that don’t look good on a picture but can completely turn you around when shown in the flesh. Well, not with the CODE 11:59."

Well....., I can see one thing not to like, and it's *ahem* "date related".

In all seriousness, the blue one in the picture does look quite nice, but then again it's a press release picture so we'd kind of expect that a bit. I just don't think those pieces are for me, but as we always say, it'd be a dull ol' world if we all liked the same things. :D

I truly hope you love yours in person when you get it Altair!

Almost every company has a few hideous or ridiculous models, but there is a certain line....
