Hi,
If I have the serial number of a watch can i convey this to an AD so they can confirm that it is what it appears to be? Also can you retrospectively obtain copy certification for a watch if that paperwork is missing?

Thanks

Assuming its a Breitling, I might skip the AD and go straight to BUSA: info@breitlingusa.com

This is not really a service offered by Breitling, but you can ask. I once asked about the production, sales and service information on a late 1990s model and they could provide no information, whereas they seemed to have some information on a B-1. That said, it is unlikely they will provide any kind of authentication without it being looked at by a service centre. I have heard that a collector in the UK had successfully obtained a replacement COSC certificate, but that a US collector was refused.

A few years back, I picked up a pre-owned Breitling that was missing all the paperwork, so I sent it in to BUK to, a) verify it as being all straight and true, and b) to purchase a new set of paperwork. They happened to still have the correct manual in stock to I purchased one of those, and they also reissued the COSC certificate (at a cost).

For fairly obvious reasons they won't reissue warranty cards, but they certainly always used to supplier COSC certs and other paperwork as long as they're still in stock. Times may have changed of course......

I called BUSA a year or so ago asking for a new box since my black leather travel case is beat to shreds. I was denied. When I sent my watch in for service a couple months ago, it did come back with a nice travel case, but not the leather one that fits in the Bakelite box.

Driver is right, you should be able to get a COSC cert reissued and a manual if they have it. If you do call and ask, please report back for future reference. Thank you!
