Did anyone else catch the Sinn 903 St B E Basel release? It looks to have the vintage lume that is all the rage right now. I didn't think Sinn was still making this model.

I don't think they ever stopped, though I don't think its seen as their signature piece.

I think most watch aficionados want the classic Navitimer style with a Breitling name on it. But, Sinn has every right to make it, having bought the design when Breitling went under. With the 01 moving so much higher in price, they may actually now have a niche.

As familiar as that looks, to me it's just not the real thing as Scott said. Having said that it looks pretty darn nice, and considering the price differential Scott also alluded to, I bet it'll be popular among people that like the style, but aren't aligned to Breitling to the extent we are.

Cheers Tim.

The 903 H3 St Silber is beautifully made and the silver dial is superb. I have the original deployment bracelet but its very heavy.

If its not getting away too much from Dempsey's original post, I guess the next corollary from Breitling - Sinn is the Sinn - Hacher connection. These are my Ying and Yang Aviateurs. They are very comfortable, well made and were relatively inexpensive. The Silver version here has been modded by the factory and includes skeletal hands and winding rotor, expo back, Soignée finish (figured movement, rotor and blued screws). My preference is for the black though, and on a simple Di Modell strap, it is a go any place kind of watch.

Love the two Sinns you have Jim. It’s only my preference but I would prefer the newer 9-6-3 layout, yet I have been thinking about adding an Old Navitimer to my collection. I’m fickle I guess. So it’s not surprising that Sinn’s version of the Navitimer sparks my interest. Both models have a common ancestry. Obviously, they both share looks and functions that a novelist could not tell them apart. However, after owning a few vintage and modern Navi’s, I find them interesting like the other slide rule watches I have found.

Scott, your right. For the price, yes I can see adding one. Wouldn't be a Breitling but be part of my slide rule watch collection. I think I would enjoy a vintage Sinn from the original Breitling stock too. Then again, I like the look they released.

Thanks,

Hi Dempsey. Thank you for your comments. Just to let you know, the two together are Hachers and not Sinns. I guess that's part of the charm, as they look just like Sinns and Navis. If all else fails you could always try an O & W aviation. They are every bit an 806/809.
