Hi

Sorry to write this on the breitling forum but I prefer this forum to the others.

I am going to an auction tonight and I am considering bidding on this Rolex bi-metal date just.

The question I have is in the description it has me refered to the watch as stainless steel & gilt

I assume by guilt they mean gold plated or somthing similar.

However as far as i know Rolex don't do gold plating.

Looking at the references the watch is from 1994

Any input would be great its left me pizzled

No problem, you asked it in the correct section. Gilt refers to the gold colored lettering on the dial on some earlier models. Rolex does not plate.

Thanks for the reply. The way the description is it makes out that the watch is stainless steel and built I would always describe that watch as bi-metal stainless steel and gold with a gilt dial

It's definitely two tone, but I know what your saying. Makes it seem that it's plated. However it's not, and it's a nice piece good luck!
