I would probably agree. I don't even mind that particular Ultra-Thin model.... primarily because it's not too thin! (Oh and the fact that it's got a fantasic movement inside).

From what is left I'd be happy with the Navi 01 or the JLC UT Perpetual.
Not looking good for Navi 01 though.
The rest, meh, OK lah.

Interesting voting. Again not what I expected at the beginning but some very respectable options left. I was 2 out of 3 with the popular voting (with one currently a draw) which seems to be the trend for throughout all the rounds.

Not a chance that I'm doing this again next year I'm afraid.

I have to create at least 64 threads (more if there are ties) with the links, polling options, etc which can be a ton of work - especially in the early rounds, and while I don't mind doing it if the participation level is there, this one became a chore a long time ago. Very little voting, very little discussion. The forum as a whole has become a lot more superficial in the last little while and I guess that's symptomatic of the growth and the fact that there are so many good reference threads for people to learn from. That's not a good thing or a bad thing, it's just the way it is, but it seems clear that there just isn't the level of interest in things like this anymore to make it worthwhile.

The final push, eh Roff? Almost there!

In theory these two semis should both be a no-brainers IMO - two perpetuals against two that aren't - but I guess a lot will depend on how much stock people put in movements.

Be nice if we can get more than 22 respondees this time.

Glashutte all the way, guaranteed. Knew it from the first day :).

Depends on what we're really choosing, and I don't think there's full agreement. At best its up to interpretation. When we did Breitling we called it "Greatest Breitling". This has a general descriptive.

Best innards for the money, I'd say we are well into it between the JLC and the GO. "Greatest" has us looking at though not the most important, probably the most historically notable watch in the last half-century or so with the real "Moonwatch" and for that matter "Spacewalk watch" Most important probably would have had us looking at a Sub and a Seiko quartz. I'm still a little torn, as at the end of the day there's another issue--which I enjoy looking at as well. I'm sure I'd happily own either for the four, but there are three I would reflexively reach for in the box/winder, and among them they are in different camps.

From what's left, I certainly hope so too.

To be honest all the remaining 4 are worthy enough pieces in their own right. The Speedy Pro is an absolute icon, the 7 Day Portuguese is a superb modern take on a classic design, the JLC UT Perpetual is incredible both inside and out but also it also looks a little ordinary to me. And that leaves the GO, which is just a great watch - great movement, great size, original looking.... it'd be a worthy winner.

That's exactly right - there is no definitive description of what we're voting for and neither should there be IMO.

People will (and quite rightly should) vote for what's important to them. No one opinion is more or less worthy than another. Personally unless I have a really close affinity for a specific watch (like the Ploprof for example, which is a very simple, albeit in-house, three hander), then I tend to always go for a complicated movement. So out of what's left in this comp, I will personally go with the Perpetuals because I don't have a specific over-arching connection to any of them... so the movement wins out. But that's just me, and I certainly don't expect everyone to vote that way.... and that's the beauty of it - whatever wins will be the greatest watch as chosen by the majority. (If 22 can be called a majority of course!  )

The GO would be last of the 4 for me, I've kept voting against the bloomin thing... Though I admire GO as a brand hugely, the roman numerals and fussy hands make it look more old-fashioned and ornate than I like. Am rooting for the JLC. Different strokes for different folks, eh. Thanks for doing it Roff, it has been fun. For us anyway!

If you had told me before we started that a GO was in with a chance to win I would have believed it, but not that GO. If you had told me before we started that a JLC was in with a chance to win I would have believed it, but not that JLC. If you had told me that an iconic Omega had knocked out an iconic Rolex I would have been very surprised, and if you had told me that an IWC made it to the final four I would have been somewhat surprised.

I can confidently say that I could never have come up with this final four, maybe I would have had the Omega, but that's it. But hey, that's what makes it fun - everyone is different and if we did this again we would get different results.
