I've been kind of browsing around for a do it all hunting watch, and I was curious to see how many of the BS brethren are fellow woodsman and if they just take their Breitling in the woods with them or switch out for a G Shock or Suunto or something else.
I would like something with Barometer, Altimeter and Temp as well as a compass.
Thoughts and/or suggestions are greatly appreciated in advance.

I'd go G-Shock all the way for that kind of thing - cheap, rugged and packed with features. No point in risking a Breitling in the wilds IMO.

I do a LOT of hunting, shooting etc. it's either one of the G-Shocks that come or a Seiko monster. That said I never really need features like a compass, altitude etc. like D8 says and I agree I don't see the point in risking a "good" watch in environment like I shoot. The G Ss are the way to go. One I have have done EVERY thing, dropped, banged jazzuci, sauna, you name it and still look good too. I remember I viewed a video on YT of one frozen in a block of ice and it was still working.

I probably will just go with the G Shock. While the features aren't required to have a successful hunt, the temperature and compass would definitely come in handy, and the barometer could be useful as well. I am a bow hunter so I don't really need to worry about the gun recoil, but you never know what could happen in the woods, especially in Maine. I'll update once I make my final decision. I'm just excited to get into the woods and get away from life for a while.

Which is a lot easier if people stop quoting SPAM in replies, which just gives me more posts to moderate, and use the report function so that I find them quicker.

I think I'm just going to wear my Chrono Avenger, it's tough enough. Ill just wear it on the rubber tang so that the leather stays nice.

Yeah, I always wear my G-shock when I go out hiking, 4-wheeling, shooting, etc. To me, any sort of outdoor activities automatically gets the G-shock, as there's no reason to risk the Breitling, and out there I'm not interested in style. :)

I love this watch n wear regularly even bought a titanium strap for it. Would be perfect for your needs Matt, you can pick a used one up for around £200/250ish.

The 1st ones had a green T I haven't seen one of those anywhere on ebay, I'm sure they maybe quite collectable now.
