Post subject: | Cartier Tank Solo |
Just wanted to share my experiences - and some photos - of my Cartier Tank Solo. This watch impresses me even more than I thought it would. It is fun to wear, and I love the change of having a small watch, from wearing my Omega Speedmaster all week. I have long wanted a small, elegant watch that I can use for a real dress watch. This fits the bill perfectly, yet it looks great with casual wear as well. I found very few wrist shots of the Tank Solo in my research of this watch, so my friend Ian obliged me by taking quite a few great pics today: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() This watch has a beautifully finished quartz movement, although without an exhibition back is not visible. Still, it shows great attention to detail. It is great to have a quartz watch again. Since it is not my daily watch, it is great to just be able to leave it and not feel bad about not winding it. The positive side of having a quartz watch is becoming very apparent to me. My first Breitling was a Colt quartz, and I wore it for many years, so I have never found fault with wearing a quartz watch. My Omega Speedy satisfies my carving for a mechanical manual wind, so the quartz Cartier fits right in. The quality of this watch is flawless. I think that Cartier has done an excellent job of providing a Tank model that is more affordable for most people who otherwise may not be able to afford a Cartier. Especially since most of the models so far are gold watches. Even the Tank Solo yellow gold model is quite affordable in comparison, as it has a stainless steel back. The strap is also high quality. It has the smaller scales, which I think suit the smaller watch size very well. The deployment clasp is very comfortable, and the buckle on it is very simple and flat to match the watch case very well. I love the blued hands and the blue synthetic crown as well. The dial has a lovely, delicate satin finish with an antiqued look to it, which I hope the photos pick up. Hope you enjoy the pics. Cheers, Carl |

Nice piece Carl! Not my cup of tea, but a friend of mine has been looking at tank style watches and is thinking about that very model. |

Nice watch Carl. I'm actually getting the Tank Solo Large on the bracelet later this year for my wife. |

Maybe later on I will get the bracelet for it as well. A lot of people don't like it on the bracelet. However, I took a long look at how well the bracelet is made, and I also think it suits the watch very well. Just gives it a different look is all. In spite of the trend towards larger watches, this one just feels right on my wrist. It makes a really nice change from my Omega Speedy. Cheers, Carl |
