I got a case opener with my watch tool kit. I knew that was trouble

I was bored and My solid gold Omega was lying around. Turns out its gold through and through, in surprisingly good condition internaly considering its advance age (50 years to be exact)

It does need oiling, and desperately a case cleaning so sending her in next week.

I was wearing my Breitling 6.75, it looked very scared

STOP!

Next thing you know you'll be in the help forum asking where you can find a set of hands for an Omega!

That aside - looks nice - would be good to do before and after pics when it comes back from the service.

I opened my Gran Chrono two weeks ago. Had to see the engraved movement up close. It is in the shop. I guess I learned a valuable lesson. But I just had to see it up close.

I am thinking of burying it deep in the yard. I figure if I ever do get the urge to open another watch I would be too exhausted from the digging.

Will do on the after service comparison shots.

Perish the thought. The Omega had a standard snap back case that is easy to open and well, snap back  but the tool required to open a 6.75 would require some sort of specialized engineering degree to operate.

Altair,

Perhaps you should consider building a boat in a bottle in hopes that this fine art will distract you from wanting to open  any more of your watches.

Too late Jerome! Our good friend Mr Altair has just popped open the back on his shiny new Oris LE!

 Oh cmon people, like they are going to take as many precautions as I do at the AD. I have handled new born babies rougher than I handle these watches when I open them. I wish they would take that much care at the AD, in fact I once got my Chronomat scratched at a resizing at the AD

Besides I wouldn't open a watch that has any kind of serious water resistance since that would compromise its performance. The Oris and Omega are a snap to open and close securely. I have to say it was inevitable, I have been building my own computers and fixing my cars since I was 14, it was a matter of time before I started tinkering with my watches
