I wouldnt pay 200,000 USD for a stamp, but some collectors do. The G-Shock has a devoted following and is a cult icon in some watch circles. It's a collector thing. Same goes for Swatch watches, some fetch hefty prices in auctions. |

I don't know what a G-Shock close to that one normally costs....$250? If that's the case, then they are charging 20 times that price. If Breitling had a limited edition of 200 pieces with an in-house movement and a display back and they charged $60,00 (20 times the normal price) would you say it was ridiculous? I'm not saying I want to buy it, but I can't fault someone who does. Besides, if you thought you could sell it for $10,000 in three years, you might pay $5000 for it now. As Altair said, it's a collector thing. |

As Altair said, it's a collector thing. I'm guessing you had a small typo there with the "$60,00" as I think you meant $60,000 if Breitling were charging 20 times normal prices. And I wouldn't pay that either! ![]() But yeah you and Altair are both right in as much as it is each to his own. But I guess the simple question is - who out of our membership on here would buy one? I'm guessing a big fat ZERO! |

Yeah, I meant 60K. It's always something small -- like a decimal place ![]() |

I think G shocks normally go for around $50 US. I mean $500 is alot to swallow for a Casio, let alone $5000. I doubt even most WIS would recognize what that was on someone's wrist. I would compliment someone if I saw them wearing it, but it would not resound in my head that it was ultra exclusive or worth $5000. No offense to anyone, just not my cup of tea. (Id take that $5000 and hit my AD for a 'Ling.) |
