Not sure if I should gloat about this or just be quiet and be happy.
One thing for sure, Omega deserves praise for this and after all this is a watch forum so here we go.

Some of you may vaguely recall my post from just under two years ago when my dear daughter spotted a NOS Omega Speedmaster Apollo 11 35th Anniversary LE at an AD in Taipei.

viewtopic.php?f=6&t=39659&start=0

Well, today is nearly 2 years since I bought that watch and the watch is now nearly 10 years old since it was released by Omega back in 2004.
So this morning I took it to Omega Service Centre, explained that the watch is now 10 years old and no doubt in a desperate need of service and that I am afraid to wear it so as not to do any damage to it due to ageing lubricants, etc, etc, you know all the stuff that I learned from Roff ;-)
I was asked to check the watch in for an inspection and that I will receive a call in a few hours with feedback.
Three hours later I received a call from the service centre confirming that the watch has been examined by their watch maker and it is confirmed that the watch is in need of full service AND that it will be done free of charge as the watch is still under warranty until May 7th.
I'm gob smacked. Omega
I guess with that level of service I will have to get that Planet Ocean after all!

That's awesome! Omega has warranties that last that long? PO 9300 is now back on the list. I will have to get over the fact it is only a 45.5mm.

It's not that the warranty lasts that long, but instead that the AD registered it under warranty 8 years after manufacture. Still, to the extent we all get that an unused piece of that age would at least need fresh oil, the fact that Omega didn't flinch is at least reassuring. It also makes sense, though, since an unknowing customer who bought it new could still face the problem if the watch ran errantly, or if someone informed them of the problem.

Ahh that makes more sense. Guess my reading skills during the day I am currently having weren't to sharp. :poke:

It would have helped if I read the original thread he posted first before making a fool out of myself. :poke:

That's amazing. Well done, Omega.

Breitling on the other hand has basically screwed the early adopters of the B01 by giving the later adopters a 5-year warranty while neither of my pieces are covered anymore.

That's great Wes. I hope that what ever omega have caught is contagious to other makers.
