Out of interest, which dial did you prefer? I normally quite like bold dials but - on the basis of the photos at least - lean to the black, since it's the classic Speedy tone.

I'm gonna go with the black dial. I like them both, though. I know myself well enough, that if I got the one with the grey dial, I would soon be trying to flip it to get the other one!

I see from elsewhere that you did Carl. Congratulations. Beautiful. I can't wait to see these in the flesh. One or two people have commented that they wear even thicker than they are [14.5mm] but I suspect my only doubt is which dial to plump for.

Thanks!

I would have to say that it does wear bigger than 14.5mm, I did measure it, though, and that is the correct measurement. I think it's a bit of an illusion, as the sides of the case are so flat, it makes it look thicker than it really is. Yes, it is a big watch and it is heavy. But nothing superfluous, I feel. The movement is a coaxial, so that is more thickness right there. I don't know if the column wheel mechanism actually adds thickness or not. I simply feel that the watch is nothing more, nothing less in size and weight than what it should be. I would likely have got it even if it was thicker.

Anyway, I love watches, so I have all sizes. My smallest is the Cartier Tank Solo which is 27.5mm, and my '63 Seamaster is only 34mm. But I love wearing them all.

Both dials are stunning, each in it's own way. I chose black, but I know for certain that if the watch came only with the grey dial I would still have got it!

Cheers,
Carl

Hey, good to see you again! I remember a few years ago, drooling over your Hour Vision! I happened to look at that very model a few weeks ago, and really love it. The Mark II just seems to be more my taste.

To put the inhouse movement in, it would be the 9300. But that only has two subdials, so I suspect the used the 3330 movement to keep the traditional look with 3 subdials like the 70s model had. Perhaps there are other reasons as well.

Cheers,
Carl

Yes yes! Hello again! It has been a while. I've had to sell most of my collection and am now down to 1! Slowly but surly it should creep back up ;)

I did at one point have the original mk II and had it restored with a shiny new bracelet but for some silly reason I let it go!!

I wanted to only have a collection with "in house" movements" so sadly this new mk II won't be a contender :(

What are you rocking on the wrist they's days?

Right now I have a '63 Omega Seamaster, a '68 Omega Dynamic, a new Cartier Tank Solo, and today just arrived a vintage 1942 RCAF (Royal Canadian Air Force) Waltham military issue watch. Very small, but very cool! I need to update my signature, it looks like.

Cheers,
Carl

Just think I have found one of my favourites from Basel. I knew about the speedie dark side if the moon, but somehow I had missed the lunar dust version. I like this even more than the DSM. Wow, that has been beautifully handled.

Beautiful watch Carl. Congratulations and on the presentation ceremony. Nice touch having it presented to you by a friend. I am green with envy.

One of my best friends owns an earlier version, from about 1980. Its a beautiful watch and the new version keeps that tradition alive very nicely.
