Hi readers. I took possession of my father-in-law's Wakmann watches. I am trying to determine the dates of each. Any ideas?

He passed away a few years ago, and I didn't know these existed. Otherwise I would have asked him for the details.

Thanks!

Thanks for you reply!

Do you know if the center watch is older or newer than the outer two? The center one has different button styles and the crystal is a bit "taller". The outer two appear to be identical with the exception of the watch color and the font used for the numbers.

watches keft and right were made in France, Venus-based; the watch in the center is one of the high end models by Gigandet and houses a Valjoux R72, all from a similar period, late 50s and early/mid 60s

Fred, thank you once again for your details. Where was the Gigandet model manufactured?

I am hoping to find receipts for these watches - my father-in-law saved everything! I am hopeful, but I doubt I will find the paperwork. He was in Europe until about 1960 and then New York City until 1960 or so. I think either location is possible. After leaving NYC, he moved to the middle of the USA and I doubt he would have bought the watches there.

I had the Gigandet cleaned and repaired. It would not run, but now it is fantastic. The other two run well, but need the crystals polished. I will keep all three forever. But, I do not want to spend too much on small repairs. Do you have an estimated value for these? I'd rather not clean and/or repair them for $400 if the overall value is $450.

Gigandet were manufactured in Tramelan, Switzerland.
Wakmann were only distributed in the US, so most probably bought there in the 1960s.
would value the "Gigandet" at roughly $/€ 2-2.2k, the other two around $/€ 6-800
