An "Edition Speciale", launched in 2003, commemorating the 100th anniversary of the
first successful flight of the Wright Brothers on December 17, 1903.

The first "modern" Breitling with the iconic "rice bead" bezel; the dial shows a lot of the
design characteristics of the first sliderule chronograph, the Breitling Chronomat 769 of
the early 1940s.

The Montbrillant 1903 is COSC certified, movement is the Breitling Cal. 35, based on an
ETA 2892-A2 with a chronograph module by Dubois Dépraz, 28,800 bph;
it has a 10 minute totaliser and Flyback "Retour en Vol" function.

A family pic, a pomegranate and a crab apple, some terrace pics shot last weekend -
including some pics of that very pretty derriere - an engraved Wright Flyer, and the
inscription "!00 ANS D'AVIATION", 100 years of aviation. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wright_Flyer

Very nice. About 4 years ago I was offered one by an AD at a crazy price because it had never sold and I turned it down - still kicking myself.

Gorgeous watch (and outstanding pics as well). :) I also was considering that same piece still in stock at an AD back in 2005/2006 IIRC. Was swayed instead by a white dial Olympus because wifey liked the moon phase complication and larger diameter on my wrist. Fooled her. I pulled the trigger on my black dial SQ B-1 cuz I had too many (???!!!) Navi's at the time. Sheeeeeez.....
Best,
Ron

Up there with the back of a Navi Heritage as one of my favorite casebacks, though this one may be the best-executed. Viewing Fred's collection reminds me a a statement in the old Batman movie by Jack Nicholson as the Joker--"Where does he get those wonderful toys?"

So if this watch was about 95% and had a black strap with black face / white outer area... would a good price be $3,600?

Except the MB does not have an inverted C, D scale.

Nice info and beautiful watches. Nice to have a distraction for a few mins as I wait it in A&E with a little man, nearly two, who fell over and bit his tongue quite badly!

just saw yr question, for an almost NIB piece it would be ok, I think, high, but acceptable.

Resurrecting an old thread, but wondering how many of these 1903's were made? I see them occasionally in black and white dial variety (more black than white), and the ads say special (limited) edition 1903, but no idea if limited was 500 pieces or 5000. Thanks if anyone knows!
