I think that strap works well. Great looking piece.

Thanks for the feedback, Roff.

Here are a couple more photos I took with this strap today...

It seems to pull the vintage lume colour out more, which personally I think is one of the best (and unexpected) features.

Agreed on all counts.

Incidentally, I think that the renderings of the Chronomat Airborne on the Breitling site do the watch a real disservice by depicting the lume in a fairly strong pink/orange color. As much as I wanted to like this new Chronomat when it was first released, the lume color in the renderings gave me real pause. Not until I saw actual photos of the watch did I start to take a stronger interest, since the color of the lume in those photos really seemed to take on a very different hue. The photos I have posted here do a good job of depicting how the lume looks in different lighting conditions. It really does have a nice vintage vibe, and, despite my initial reactions based upon Breitling's renderings, I love it!

One other thought... Last night we had bad thunderstorms that woke me up at some point. Across the room, I could see the lume on the Chronomat Airborne glowing on the dresser. I couldn't resist this unexpected opportunity to check out the lume, so I got out of bed to take a look. The lume was glowing brightly, and was easily readable at 4:00 a.m.!!!

Thought I'd go ahead and add this shot to the thread. I was trying out straps this morning to see what leather strap might look best with the Airborne. I tried out some of the Breitling options (including gold croc and black croc), but they didn't seem to work as well as I had hoped. Then I went in a totally different direction and imported the original strap from my Glycine Airman. Man -- I love this combo! The British tan of the strap really sets off the dial nicely, I think, and the stitching helps out with the vintage vibe. Plus, the weight and thickness of this strap works really well with the Airborne. Any comments, positive or negative, welcome -- I'd be curious to hear any reactions to this look.

I'm usually not a fan of leather straps. But this one fits just perfect! Congrats, a really great combo. :lingsrock:

Great pics, like the leather combinations. I'll be looking at this model when the AD gets them in. Since I don't wear polished bracelets will be considering strap options (both rubber and leather). Thanks for posting!

Many thanks!

As far as strap options go, remember that this watch is also offered with a black military-style mesh strap, as well.

That is such a good looking watch. I genuinely can't wait to try it on. I just returned from Australia where unfortunately the watch shop in question had not received its Basel models yet. Hopefully I'll find it in Dallas this week.

Congratulations on the acquisition! The strap looks great; fantastic combo. Did you by chance try it wit the Military mesh strap? If so what did you think?

Thanks boogiebot and Tim S!

I ordered one of the Airborne military straps for use with my Seawolf, but it has yet to arrive. For color comparison purposes, I did try the Airborne with a black croc strap, but I think the tan strap approach complements the watch much better. That one is a keeper for me!

I wonder if Breitling can swap out my Buck Rogers bezel for the new Airborne bezel. Doubtful, but I sure do like that bezel more than mine. Good dial color, by the way!

I've always thought that the Chronomat Airborne would look great with one of Breitling's khaki military straps -- so, I took the plunge!

Thanks, Matt -- I am really liking it a lot. Gives the Airborne a bit of a "field watch" feel.
