Good morning

This is my first ever post here and I'm looking to buy my first ever Breitling.

I love a vintage styled watch and ive come across this one that really appeals to me.

I was hoping for some assistance whether it was right or not though before I parted with any cash.

Many thanks
Andy

Thanks Buddman, the dial looked too fresh to me, which brought me to post on the forum.

Would you mind telling me a bit more as to why it isn't right? Only if that doesn't mess with forum rules of course.

as you noted, it "looks wrong". I'm not a movement knowledgeable on these time-only pieces as I only collect chronographs, but you cant even read it in the photo he's posted (he can take very clear photos of the rest of the watch though) , and the watch model information is on the caseback, which he hasn't shown. Possibly on purpose. He's also called it a Cadette in the description, which is a chronograph. The box he's shown is fake. These older time-only watches are not valuable and you would never pick one up with a redial. I suspect its all wrong though.

Thanks buddman, it might be my first Breitling, but not my first watch.

I suspected as much, visually appealing to me which attracted me to it in the first place but your comments make a lot of sense.

Few messages back and forward from the seller, doesn't feel right to me on balance.

Many thanks for taking the time.

I may well be back in future, but for now, thank you to yourself and the forum for being so helpful.

Cheers
A

buddman

Apologies for another post. Have I stumbled on another fake with this one?

Its not a lot of money, but I'm drawn to the simplicity and style as a daily wearer (office).

(I am wearing a very simple Omega 265 - 1952 today)

Thanks

Andy that one is probably just fine. Three hand models are not well documented but seems ok to me! Good luck.

Thanks for taking the time Dave (no pun intended)

Would there be a model number relevant to this one? or any resource that I can cross reference with the case numbers?

489117-28
or the 892-84

Many thanks

I'm also fond of these Colts, I'm assuming that I'm fairly safe since both come with box and papers.

892-84 is the reference and the 489117 number dates the case to a 1950 production

Got it - Range 467656 - 498512 - 1950

Having a hard time finding anything 892-84 on the google though.

as I said, you won't really - these are poorly documented and very hard to find information about. there isn't really much of a collectors market for these and i expect that one is quite small given the movement in it. good luck.

a redial i think. Anything with "incabloc" or "ruby" count on the dial can almost (I think there is 1 exception?) certainly not be original.

No deference needed or deserved.

As you point out, there isn’t a lot of info these simple watches. It does look ok. But I dont recall seeing Incabloc on a dial in a ref book like Richter Ill look again though.
