impressive, isn't it ?
way above market valuations for perfectly correct pieces ...
no mention of the fact the dial is a sad refinish, stealing our time and then going on to try and rip off buyers ..

"all original" and "nothing wrong" in the sales text.
op: do not bother to edit or delete, we have screen shots.

let me add the ebay link by seller theoristwriter and the listing title "Vintage Breitling Chronograph Circa 1944-1949" so the google bots will hopefully find this thread should someone look for information before committing to buy this junk.

dislike that.

Had a feeling this was going to happen and stopped responding. If someone needs a good beating behind the wood shed, it is this guy!
If I were president, this guy gets banned from this site. But that could be the Parky talking....

Well.... As Fred is aware, I have no problem contacting sellers. I laid into this guy with both barrels and told him he had been exposed as a fraud and knowing the issues, trying to rip off a buyer. First, he tried to deny himself and then when I sent him a picture of the watch he posted here, tune changed! Lowered the price but this was his response....
Ohhh, it's fine I'm trying to sell this fast, the local place I went told me it was authentic. I actually don't care if I was exposed or not.
His seller name on eBay is (theoristwriter). I would avoid this seller and warn others!

WHOA! I am not theoristwriter...I'm apparently the victim.

I was contacted by eBay username pClayton50 who sent me this link. From reading through this thread, I've gathered that this watch isn't so much a fake as much as a poorly restored, franken-watch with a proper case, poorly restored dial/hands, and a Breitling Venus 170 from a different watch...please correct me if i'm wrong as this is only the second "Breitling" that i've ever had come into my possession.

also, WatchFred, most people aren't generally able to start a new eBay account with 431 reviews...though i think i tag you on my instagram of the same name some times...HA

Glad this was brought to my attention, I will adjust my listing after receiving a reply to this post.

many sellers have multiple aliases, all with high "feedback".

case authentic, very poorly restored dial with incorrect logo, movement might be original.

hi, could you tell me your opinion on this asap, please? Are the dial and hands original?

There are many different dial and hand combinations for the ref 178 but this one looks consistent with others I've seen. The serial number will help determine authenticity and indicate whether the movement should have a signed bridge or not. The hand lume seems to match the dial well.

Thank you! The hands looks too modern for 40s watch to me.
