How can you tell? is it because of the dial? and the word anti magnegtic? Dam, so what should I do with it?

Well, reference number should be 178. Dial has been refinished, poorly, to look like a Breitling.
As far as what to do.... Nothing to do! Can't make a diamond out of a rock. If you bought this as authentic, you have a case to return as a fake but otherwise, nothing to do.

I might have read it wrong, now that you say its 178 it is because the last two numbers the reference and that 178 has the same font. I found it at antique store for like 50 bucks, it was really bad i took it to my local watch shop and they said it was all good, all original, but i don't think they have seen this because they kept on saying its interesting, etc. I want to find out more, also what is the reference 178? what was the past history etc. Now that i see it under my loupe it does says 178 and its stainless steel. I just want to know what it could have been if it was not fake.

You can see better than I from the pictures so if it is an 8 and not a B, case is correct.
As for the dial, it is as stated, an older refinish and poorly done at that. Effects value tremendously. Dials for these do come available from time to time. You will need one!!
Per serial number, this dates to 1945. Movement should not have a signed bridge as a bit early.
And yes, it does say 178 so case is good. I would assume somewhere in the past the dial started to look bad and was refinished and that can't be fixed.
Ref. 178 were as you have were Venus 170 movement chronographs that were considered entry level watches for the brand. Venus 170 had the sub registers up and down vs side to side on other chronos. Very well made and accurate movements.
Pristine ref. 178's of late have had a hard time breaking the 1-1.1k selling price. This one is far from pristine and would be IMO valued in the 350-400 range.

So next time i found a watch likes this don't do refinished? is it because of the patina right?
