It looks OK to me, a Venus 170 powered 178 from 1958. Not the greatest photos, but I don't see any obvious problems except a replacement crown.

The first number of ref. is 6 not 9, so it is 1945 I think.

base metal. can not be polished (or not with the results you might hope to achieve), but rechromed.
