The dial looks really nice on this but I fear it's the only piece that could be remotely authentic. The rest appears to be a mish mash of parts. The real clue is why anyone would knowlingly install a later Breitling crown. Glaring oversight imo which makes one look a little deeper.

To be honest I'm not entirely convinced by the dial either. It's always tough to tell with these busy dials, but it looks a little unrefined.

It looks to me that an original maker's mark has been removed from the inside case back. It's a more modern case that has been re-chromed.

Didn't we have someone discussing this one as part of a captured thread a couple of months back? This posting has many more images, but I may not be recalling correctly and I'm too lazy to search.

yes, we did discuss this watch before, in a thread where a new member tried to convince us a Turnheim franken was correct ...

The ebay seller "chris99662009" seems to have similar sources to our dear Sage, not going into the Rolexes he listed, but none of the Breitlings he has on offer seem too convincing - to put it very mildly.

Seller describes all of them as "... an extremely rare and highly collectible vintage watch from one of horology’s most famous names and will, if history is any judge, provide an excellent financial investment as well as a possession to treasure and enjoy. "

"The original and extremely beautiful Breitling signed dial is in excellent condition ..."
= brand new, badly refinished dial; wrong case, no model ref.

here seller admits the dial has been refinished, but what about the wrong case, with model ref. 13002 for a Venus 170 Breitling ?

well, this one at least has a case that started life as a Breitling, but "The original Breitling signed dial is just breathtakingly elegant and finished in ivory/white. The outer minute ring, sub-second/minute markers are as crisp as the day it was made". No real surprise, dial seems to be early 2012 vintage.

"I love Breitlings from the 1950′s and 1960′s but they have to be absolutely original and this Navitimer one of the best I’ve ever seen."
= a mid/late 50s all black AOPA dial in a 1965 case .....
