Did Breitling make dials where the hands were vertically oriented like the ones below? I haven't seen many (if any) like this one is showing.

You mean the subdials?

Not sure, I've got no experience with Breitlings that early. Hopefully the vintage guys will be able to help you here.

Breitling did make several models in the 12and6 configuration, based on the Venus 170.
this one has a correct model number (ref.178), caseback seems a bit strange, unconvinced.
Do not have Richter with me, but lugs seem wrong for a 178.

Don't have Richter in the office either, but have never seen a 178 with that case or caseback. Also not convinced about the movement or the dial to be honest. Nothing original here for me.

The size is a good indicator it's a fake. The early B's, with few exceptions, never were much over 36mm at their largest.

I've never seen ribbon style lugs for a ref. 178.

This one seems a little closet to what I've seen before. Although it looks like the Breitling isn't centered on the dial.
