I recently bought this Breitling 765 Premier and would like to have your opinion.
Dial seems to have been redone.
Are the back numbers correct ?
is the movement the original one ?
What about the case ?
2 pictures attached (if it works..)

thanks a lot

sold on chrono24, out of Switzerland or Holland, quite recently, iirc ?

hands seem to be from an AVI, case looks correct for a non-AVI 765 from 54, dial definitely refinished.

nice, but far from correct, I'm afraid

Yes I bought it on Chrono 24 ...
Thanks for this quick answer.
So do you consider it to be authentic with wrong hands and redone or is it a frankenwatch worth nothing?

bridge marking is off for a 54 too.
well, "worth nothing" would be too harsh, but yes, it might be considered a Frankenwatch,

we will get additional opinions on this one, but, as I said, far from correct,
was it Switzerland or Holland, tend towards Holland, but unsure ?

Franken for me. Case and hands are Breitling, but not from the same model, dial is redone so could be anything, movement could originate from a Breitling with a replacement bridge, but could also be from a non Breitling donor.

additional: the late 40s and early 50s 765s I have seen do have Cotes de Geneve decorations, later pieces gilt;
a 54 watch should have BOW on the bridge, definitely not unmarked

would talk to the seller, iirc he mentioned none of these faults in his listing,
frankly had it on watch as I wanted to see if it would sell, did u keep a
copy of the watch description ?

not trying to be disrespectful here, but for many collectors the AVI hands might be the most valuable parts.

I just found their invoice and sent them an email.
If they don't refund me by tomorrow night I will go to the police and sue them (plus write to Chrono 24 who will normally block their seller account).
thanks for your help.
It is a professional seller from Amsterdam.
I will post their name in a new message if they don't refund me.

AS EXPECTED THEY CONSIDER THAT THE WATCH IS AUTHENTIC AND DON'T WANT TO REFUND...

Seller is "LOST BUT FOUND" in Amsterdam. :guns:

I will go to the police and sue them this week.

Could the most knowledgeable of you also give me their opinion concerning the authenticity of this watch ?

Thanks a lot

I believe that Fred already has (and that could easily be taken as an insult). However, speaking only for myself.......

I DO NOT authorise you to use any of my comments in any legal action concerning this watch.

Why such a reaction ?
What are you so afraid of ?
Don't you stand by your previous message explaining clearly that this is a frankenwatch ?
I would have never used your post anyway as nobody knows you (even less your real name) and your post has absolutely no legal value.
I just don't want to go in a legal battle just to find out after a few months or years (and lots of money spent) that it's an authentic watch...

not taking this as an insult at all, Roff, understand that OP wants additional
opinions, understandably seems quite upset by this, though asking those questions
before finalizing the purchase would have been preferrable.

OP, you might want to pm member Dracha to get his input, he does know more
about the AVIs than I do, though I'm afraid there is very little doubt in this case.

Roff, neither you nor me would be considered expert witnesses in a Dutch
court, as they would, I am sure, require a local, court approved expertise,
so it would make rather little sense to quote us.

I'm not afraid of anything around this, and I stand by my comments. However, I have no desire to become involved in any legal dealings and wish to make that 100% clear.
