Dear members of the community,

Found this piece in an antique shop, and would love to acquire it but i need your insight:

Vendor saying its from 1940-50, stainless steel, mechanical and as you can see they days of the week are either in italian or spanish so maybe a limited edition.
When i was at the shop to look at it closely the moon phase colors were a bit washed out :(
It looks like an exeptional piece and I really wish its genuine.
Btw they are asking for 2000 EUR.

So if you guys can tell me if its an authentique breitling and if 2000 EUR isnt overpriced that would be great  :cheer:

thx in advance

well, 280-20 is not a documented Breitling ref. and all we have seen w/ that reference number were clear fakes,
either from South America (yes, Spanish date wheels ...) or Turkey.

dislike the "base metal" inscription, do not remember seeing that on any authenticated piece, the expected serial
no. is not on the outside caseback.

movement shot and inside caseback pic would add to the picture, but even for an authenticated, totally correct
piece that price would not be a bargain.

thanks Fred

As many said before you saved me a little fortune, was realy looking forward for my first lunar phase wrist watch I guess it will have to wait a lil bit more .
Im sure that the vendor wont be happy to know the sad truth, he might even suspect me of trying to undermine it for a better deal :guns:

again thanks for the expertise

better wait for additional opinions, I have often been wrong.
additional pics (movement/caseback) would help to be sure.

though all authenticated Triple Date Moonphase pieces have
the suffix 28 afaik, i.e. 88/28, 93/28, 94/28

Not the greatest pics, but I agree with Fred - not right. I think if we could see the dial square on we would see that the logo's not very good.
