Hi Breitling lovers.

What's your take on this supposedly authentic 1958 Breitling TransOcean Date Automatic Gold Top? Model 1002.
See pictures below. And what do you think I should pay for it? Thanks.

Thanks for that confirmation.

Since I have no idea what these vintage transoceans are worth, could someone perhaps give me a rough estimate?
The current bid is 1k dollars.

have not seen a gold cap for some time, one was pulled standing at around 600 pounds several months ago.
the best indication would be a full 18k version (very nice) from Germany that was listed several times for €1,900,
then finally sold for €1,400.

That one should have a 'B' marked crown. This is the one I purchased last year for $750. I think $800-$1000 is the going rate. They came in three version, stainless, plated top, and 18k.

Thanks for all the info. What made me a bit suspicious was that the seller claimed the watch to have a "thick layer of 14k gold" on a stainless steel case. In other words, from what I could gather from your post, it's "just" plainly gold-plated.
Anyway, it seems to go up in price as of this moment. Over 1100 bucks so far. Doesn't seem like a good deal.
