Not just move it to the right place, delete the duplicate topic. Please don't double post. As Fred says, the dial looks OK, but we can't confirm authenticity without good shots of inside and outside of the caseback plus the movement. |

case looks like a ref. 172, but this would have a Venus 170, would assume watch is late 30s and right during the period where I would expect ref. numbers starting to appear on the casebacks. Like dial, movement and hands and the lack of the typical faker's branding, would like to have others chime in. |

I don't see anything wrong with any of the elements of it, and we can't date accurately with a serial number this early so I have to assume that it's correct. As Fred says, it's slightly surprising to not see a model number and to see this case / movement combo, but for me, nothing to prove that it's wrong. |

I don't know of any Breitlings that have the three-minute marks on the minute totalizer (which I first observe in a 1942 or so ad) and don't show any other signs of being a Breitling. In particular, I think it would most likely have a reference/model number. I'm leaning to this being another example of a very sharp-looking addition of the "Breitling" signature to an otherwise fine and aged dial, but I'm frequently wrong. I think we should learn more about the watch before making a judgment. What history is there for the watch? [Points deducted for "Grandpa's drawer".] Edit: I just looked at it some more. I think I would like climb to climb onto the fence. That dial signature looks so damn good. The dial shows almost no fading to the colored lettering and red fades fast. The lugs are really beat, but they were spindly to start with. I can make up a good story: "The lugs got bent into a twisted mess on the first wearing and the watch sat in a drawer until recently repaired."] |

Thank you. Im slightly unsure about your answers. Are you saying that you think the watch may not be an original? or just that the casing dosn't match the movements? So maybe someone has mixed two watches together? |

Where did you get it? What do you know about its previous owners, etc.? I think we're still deciding. Since I see that you joined today, tell us a little about yourself, too. |

Bill, The three minute markers are a good point - it is ostensibly 'too early' to have those markings - hmm, an enigma wrapped up in a conundrum. |
